CPU all the time, GPU only on Idle

It is not surprising to me that the GPU is called into play, but rather that the apparent minimal amount of processing required on the web page would cause close to 40% GPU load. Additional playing around demonstrated that the web control page for FAH also triggers the phenomenon - and, not to downplay what it took programmatically to serve up that functionality, I would venture to guess that the code for that page is seemingly not overly complex or demanding.

As far as WebControl is concerned, I bet the culprit is that animated thingy on the left side of the progress bar (when folding is active). Maybe, just maybe, it should be replaced it with a static image...

Yes, the doohickey, but 40%? Something's rotten in Denmark, says the Bard... This may be one of those cases where an innocuous higher-level programming command produces a quickly widening pyramid of heavy-duty lower-level instructions on certain hardware or in unforeseen circumstances. Since I'm not a black-box technician, perhaps I'll pass this on to Microsoft and AMD to see if either of them wants to debug aging technology (the ATI V4800, Win7-64Pro and IE). The payoff for them would be that the solution may solve uninvestigated problems in later-model products too.

Oh, with regard to my monitor and recording from the feed to it, I may have mis-spoken <--[mis-typed?]. I wasn't looking to replace the monitor but rather find an alternative to Total Recorder Video Edition, that would actually be able to capture the evidence presented on-screen.

Until IE changes, just close the web control. No big deal. No one watches a spinning wheel for very long anyway. Or open fahcontrol instead.
