It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.
I haven't run my patches yet and I see an NVidia optional patch sitting there. It might be an old one that I never applied since it says it's release date was Oct 2013. Do you see an "Optional" driver update on one of the systems that you haven't patched?
I have it as optionally available on the recently unpatched PC and on the others; I have no intention of applying it to any of them.

You guys are talking about NVidia drivers, and I'm making this observation about Windows Update for ATI so it is very likely off-topic, but because it's recent and because of the nature of how Windows Update (and Microsoft) works, it just might not be. They're tweaking the HAL so it's probably worth checking out.
Microsoft distributed WDDM 1.2 for Windows 8.0 and then distributed a WDDM 1.3 late in December for Win8.1. It was a recent "important" update for my ATI GPU. Did you get a corresponding update for NV? It did make some significant changes to how Windows manages GPUs.

We kind of need to you to remove the beta switch when posting in the public section. Or post the issue in the beta section of the forum when running beta work units.
uddarts -- note that beta WUs are not supported in this forum -- although the issue appears to be more general. As 7im says, remove the beta switch (it's a good first step in debugging anyway).

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. Removing the setting will not remove the WU and if it happens to belong to a project that's still in beta, we still can't help you in the public forum. Fortunately, p9401 has moved to client-type = advanced long enough ago that the beta flag wasn't needed to be assigned this project.
Definitely reduce the overclock, probably best to start at reference speeds. That is the first thing you should be doing when you run into problems running GPU WU's.

MacBook Pro 2.9 i7 8 GB smp3
Yes, remove all overclocking. Run as near stock as you can get. It may not be the problem, but it eliminates one possibility.
I still haven't seen any reported success with Core17 WUs on a 750Ti. Another possibility is that some part of the system (most likely the openCL driver, but that's speculation with insufficient evidence) is broken for the new gen of nV card.

To test this theory, please run FAHBench (http://fahbench.com/) on your system and see if it successfully completes or not.
I am aware that some reviewer did successfully run it (AnandTech, I think) but there is a possibility that something is different between your system and their system so it is worth a shot.

i lowered the clock speed to 990mhz which limits the boost to the card near it's default clock speed. it still fails on a 8900.
So, two 750Ti systems.
Both Win 7 64 bit, though different flavours.
Different FAH control versions.
Drivers 334.89 and "latest".
At least one Core15 WU was OK.
With Core17 both consistently produce the distinctive error (the value varies within the limits 400-460)
FS01:0x17:ERROR:exception: Force RMSE error of 409.522 with threshold of 5
Both complete FAHBench.
I suspect that now needs some insight from the core programmers -- or is there some other component used by Core17 folding but not by FAHBench?
