Re: Lets try folding again.
It looks good. Your SMP PPD is up over 12K now.
You'll have to wait until your gpu finishes it's current WU and then see if the client gets a P762x WU which are on advmethods. If your gpu gets one then watch your temps and increase the fan speed if you're getting too close to 100C(some might say to try and keep it below 90 but as long as it's below 100 it should be okay ... obviously the cooler the better).
Task manager is only showing 85% for the a4.exe plus 2% for the GPU. Can you check the performance tab and see if all cpu screens show 100%. Somehow there's 13% missing?!!?!?

Alright awesome thanks!
I will keep an eye on my temps. If they get too high it might just give me the excuse I was looking for to buy a water block .

Re: Lets try folding again.
SMP ppd just went off a massive cliff (down to about 1100 ppd)
Under task manager i only see one a4, however if i open performance monitoring I see 2, The second is using approximately 13% cpu
I tried ending/closing the second a4 process but it comes right back within a minute or so, Any ideas?

Re: Lets try folding again.
Task manager is counting one task and it doesn't show you that there are two threads running. I'll bet Performance Monitoring is showing each thread.
If you see two fahcore copies running (in task manager) it's because you have two copies of the FAH client running or two V7 slots. Killing the fahcore will just produce an error and FAH will just start a new copy of Fahcore. You have to stop the other client or slot.
NO. Task manager is never the way to stop a fahCore.bollix47 wrote:SMP:

Re: Lets try folding again.
I saw no other client or slot in the OP's images, so the only way I could think of stopping the extra core was to kill it after stopping the client and it appears to have worked fine.

Re: Lets try folding again.
That's because he was looking at two THREADS running, not two TASKS. You're supposed to get multiple threads when you run smp.
Re: Lets try folding again.
The last image clearly shows two tasks, one with 5 threads and the other with 12.
Re: Lets try folding again.
Did you pause/stop the client before trying to end the second one?I tried ending/closing the second a4 process but it comes right back within a minute or so, Any ideas?
Also, I noticed the WU that your GPU is running is not an advmethods WU. Are you sure you added that option to the GPU slot and not the SMP slot? If you're sure you might have to restart the GPU slot in order for latest option to get recognized(not sure about this )

Re: Lets try folding again.
When you change parameters like that in V7, they apply just as soon as the current WU finishes.bollix47 wrote:Also, I noticed the WU that your GPU is running is not an advmethods WU. Re: Lets try folding again.
That's what made me think the option was added to the wrong slot. I have two fermi cards running with advmethods and they only get P762x WUs so I expected to see one in the OP's image.
I just checked a number of different computers here and all of them only show one core entry in resource monitor with varying numbers of threads. How the OP is getting two is still unclear but what is clear is that when it happens their PPD is suffering due to contention for cpu resources and earlier in the thread when they pause/stop the client and kill the remaining core their PPD went back to normal. Since only one instance of the client and control are showing up I can't see where this 2nd process is starting up but I would be inclined to reinstall.
Perhaps there's something in the config.xml that may shed some light. Pasting that and the system section of the v7 log(in a code box) might be helpful.

Re: Lets try folding again.
Is there a V6 client running too?
I'd restart the machine and then sort the TaskManager listing by name, looking at everything that begins with FAH.

Posting FAH's log:

Re: Lets try folding again.
Yes it's almost like a uniprocessor client is running ... perhaps it's being started in Windows Start-up folder or a service?? I couldn't see a v6 client running but it may have been off the screen so sorting the Tasks should show it if there is indeed one running.
Re: Lets try folding again.
The 5 threads is a uniprocessor client (4+1) and the 12 threads is -smp 8 (4+8). I'm with Bruce on V6 being the uni client.bollix47 wrote:The last image clearly shows two tasks, one with 5 threads and the other with 12.
If the 'ghost' client is running as a service (or under a different user) you will have to select Show processes from all users in Task Manager to see it.

Re: Lets try folding again.
In the latest screenshot, I noticed that you set the next WU to download at 95% completion of the current WU. If your internet is very slow, then it is fine. However, do note that the bonus calculation starts from when the WU was downloaded so make sure that it doesn't sit idle for long. By default, it is set to 99% but you can change it to 100% if you have a fast internet connection.flying freak wrote:...Screen shot: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/192/91920436.jpg/ ...
