Glad to help!

@Joe_H

Thanks for the clarification.

The forum is not set to use attachments, posts can have image links to ones stored elsewhere. The link to that image would be posted within IMG tags.

Foxter, thanks for that any reason power limit set to 70% or is this the setting to keep the temps under 80C?

@kiore

This is mainly to keep the video card cool, the electric bill low (24/7 folding only video card that eats 250W instead of around 330W) and as a secondary reason, to prevent any errors/keep the card functional and folding for a very long time.

When you have 4 x 2080 TI, 2 x 2080 Super, 4 x 2060 Super, 2 x 2060 and 2x 1660 TI, 1 x 1660 Super and now 1 x 3090,folding 24/7, the resulting heat and the electric bill matter a lot.

The 2080 TI are set to 70% power limit (170-180W), the 2080 Super / 2060 Super / 2060 are set to minimum power limit (125W) and the 1660 TIs / 1660 Super are set to minimum power limit ( 70-80W).

Also the power limit set to 100% for RTX 3090 only provides a minor boost in PPD (the same happens to 2080 TI).

Amusing fact: the RTX 3090 card has 28% minimum power limit, however it will downclock to even 240Hz to keep within that power limit.

I am curious if the 3080 has the same behavior as the 2080 Super, it can work at 125W when set to minimum power limit.

6M PPD. And that's on 75% of power envelope (1935Mhz), and probably not the most efficient WUs for such a large shader count GPU yet...
Still a little ways off of the 9-10M PPD I estimated of the GPU.

Maybe you expected 10M PPD because you thought FP32 performance would be doubled in RTX 30X0 - but there are other factors which reduce real performance.

This Forum doesn't support native uploading of pictures. Instead you will need to host the picture on a third party site and then link them here either via URL or via the Img tag available in the Full Editor. Posting URLs are only allowed after a new member has passed certain restrictions :)

I still think we haven't seen the 3090 unleash all it's fury.
We haven't even seen the 3080's max performance numbers yet.
The day is still early..

It looks like the latest rev. of the 2080ti still beats the 3080 at folding: https://folding.lar.systems/folding_dat ... pd_overall

I think it is a little bit early to tell.
I guess the number of 3080s which are folding might be only a few and some of them will run at 250W.
My 2080Ti Rev. A gets 4.3 Mill average @200W.
The 5.1 Mil up there might be at full power and with moonshot projects, otherwise I'd be a little bit surprised about hat number.

You have more details here: https://folding.lar.systems/folding_dat ... _a_m_13448
I just installed one of those (second hand) this morning and she's only done 3 WUs so far (stock), so I don't really know, but it does seem feasible.

EDIT: Especially if you choose the COVID-19 category. I'm on Any Disease, and you may be, too?

I'm at COVID-19.
I just tried full power (366W) at proj 17305.
They say it should be 5.6 Mill - I get 5.3 Mill with my watercooled 2080Ti Rev A.
With 200W I get 4.8 Mill, means, full power is a waste of energy for me.

This is stock, air cooled (closed case), on mine:

I'll put her under water next week. The bloc didn't make it on time.
