New Anonymous User at Pande Lab team?

Post by RafaPolit »

Pande Lab Team,

Can you shed some light on this new Anonymous user you have "appended" to your group that does 1 Million + PPD crunching 700+ SMPs a day?

Have you appended all the Anonymous users to your group? Have you added about the equivalent to 1000 Quad processors to your lines?

Thanks for any light on this.
Rafa.

It is hard to speculate is it anything new or not - PG has a cluster they develop on, but it has been there for years and they usually do not channel internal WUs through stats system. Maybe they are running normal WUs at the moment and that is why we see statistics as well.
According to http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... s=&u=56882 that user was first seen 01.01.04 and just has been laying dormant recently.

not dormant anymore..... and from the looks of it, appears to be all SMPs... Linux or Windows.

Let's hope it's not another illegal install of clients

It looks a lot like the "anonymous" user in the 2nd place of the overall ranks, i.e. users who fold without a user/team.
Perhaps somehow this "user" was incorporated into the Pande team for some reason?
Or perhaps they've convinced Stanford to run FAH on all their servers? :D :D

We received a generous loan of some substantial compute resources for a couple projects. Rather than have this credited to a specific user, these resources are operating under the anonymous user name. The availability of these resources is relatively temporary.

Very nice. I hope it lasts for a while, and makes frequent reappearances!

The size of the boost makes me think it might be IBMs Roadrunner.

Will we see more of this type of donation in the future?

Thanks Kasson for shedding light into this issue.

It's nice to know such big computing "node" (whatever the node is comprised of) may be put to folding! As I said, it does the equivalent of 1000 Q6600 or so, so its a big "node"! :)

Thanks again,
Rafa.

Dang! I hope you don't overheat it!

A big 'Thank you!' to whoever donated the resources.
