I finally made a sig, but it doesn't show up on old posts. It seems to work on new posts. I can also manually attach it to an old post through an edit.
Is this normal, or am I stupid? The avatar update is automatic across the whole forum. Why isn't the sig?

Re: Signatures- not retroactive
I may be wrong but here's my 2 cents...
The avatar that is displayed for each post is a snapshot of your user profile. That's the reason why the post count always shows the newest number. The same would be true for location/avatar/status etc.
The sig however, I think, gets added to the message and is saved at the time of posting. I think instead of saving the sig in every post, the bb sw adds a flag that indicates if the post has a sig. And while displaying the post, if the sig flag exists, then the sig from the UP is displayed.
I believe there are third party mods that make sigs retroactive.
Its been a couple of years since I've played around with phpBB, so if this is incorrect, I apologize.

The sig shows up as part of the profile when you click the Profile button. I have no idea if that means anything.

Re: Signatures- not retroactive
I thought it was retroactive on all old posts ... maybe you need to set it up in your profile instead of in each posts

Re: Signatures- not retroactive
No, sigs are not retroactive, they are stored inside the post. Hence the option for you to disable your sig on a per post basis.
