Folding at home on laptop Bad_Work_Unit

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Folding at home on laptop Bad_Work_Unit

Post by Mark »

my laptops work units keep failing
22:23:01:E :WU20:Core returned BAD_WORK_UNIT (114)
22:18:09:E :WU16:The folding core did not produce any log output. This indicates that the core is not functional on your system. Check for missing libraries or GPU drivers. Make a post about your issue on https://foldingforum.org/ to get more help.

I keep getting errors like these I have 2 gpu's both amd intagrated and my 6800m as well as my 8 core ryzen 9 5900hx

any help would be appreciated. I also have the latest drivers for amd version 24.12.1

gfx 1031 is architectural ISA codename of you GPU.
are you sure that your drivers are provided by AMD and not by idiots at Microsoft? There is a known issue where Windows update hijacks perfectly working AMD (and nvidia) drivers and overwrites them silently without user knowledge. This used to happen to me even mid folding.
But if only 15103 is failing and other projects are running fine, then it might be unstable GPU, where instability is brought out by that project.
15103 did not fail for my 6900xt on Linux during project's testing, so it shouldn't be an issue with the drivers. Have you tried updating the drivers to latest ones?

Ok, so your system is not stable enough to fold. Is your driver from AMD or from Microsoft?
You can usually tell if it is from AMD, if you can right click on the desktop and launch Adrenalin control panel. Updating the drivers from AMD website might sort this issue.

You can add new columns by clicking on Avatar icon and Appearance section.
And regarding failing WUs, there is not much we can do, since it seems your GPU is not 100% stable
