How much PDD can RTX4070 run?

Too early to get an accurate estimate. LAR has only eight Linux samples with a 6M average. Overclockersclub on YouTube was seeing 5.3M and 7.5M on a couple different work units.

The 4070 Ti varies between 8-15M.

It still looks like it has potential to be a value for a GPU. At a couple hundred dollars less cost, the big item for folding might be power consumption and how it can perform with lower power limits. I am actually a bit shocked that nobody here from the forums has their hands on one yet.

I’ve got a 4070 FE, getting about 6M PPD on windows. Only been going about 12 hours so we will have to see what the multi day 24 hour average is.

I did get some weird behavior at first where the card was only drawing about 115W and giving 4M PPD. It did that for a few hours before going up to about 180W and 6M PPD.

I got the card for the purpose of folding so I’m hoping to get a little more than 6M considering the 4070 Ti is only $200 more and gets way better numbers.

I wasn't expecting much more for performance myself. With the lower TGP and price I more expect it to be a value priced option that will be efficient long term.

I wonder if your initial projects just wouldn't tax the card enough to draw much power? Either way, keep us posted on how things are going.

4070ti 600PDD in project 18717.
4070 cost performance is really not very high

It shouldn't ever be that slow unless something is wrong.

LAR is starting to get more data, and it's about where it was predicted to be in performance. For now the extremes of point spread aren't great, but that can change with time. I think overall for the power levels it's going to be fine. Long term it might make sense to spend more and power limit the bigger cards, but it also seems that the more powerful you go, the more you are rolling the dice hoping for those certain projects that will take advantage of the GPU.

Through observation, it is found that 4070ti cannot run at full power without limiting power consumption. The maximum power is 200W and the minimum power is 120W

Even with lesser cards many projects rarely push them to the power limits. As the cards get more and more cores and higher power limits, it's going to happen less often.

If the 4070ti only ever reached 6 million PPD it might be a problem. But that is a single project, not the average or even close to the upper limits for the GPU's productivity. And it's very power efficient in terms of PPD/watt, so not getting the full potential out of the card all the time is something easier to live with.
