Running FAH on a 2006 Mac Pro

I've been trying to run Folding at Home on my old 2006 Mac Pro, and found a version 7.4.4 installer that would work. However, I keep getting an error saying "FahCore ruturned: INTERRUPTED (102 = 0X66)". I already tried uninstalling and installing, and it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a fix for this error, or a newer version that could work on this mac?

Welcome to the folding support forum.

What you are running into is an issue with too old of an OS, it is not a problem with the client software. From the log you are running OS X 10.6, the folding core downloaded by the client to process the WU requires at least 10.7 or 10.8. They used to compile the code to run on 10.6.8 and higher but 2-3 years ago updates to the developer platform removed that as an option.

Options to get this to work require either upgrading the OS sufficiently to run the folding core under OS X, or installing Linux or Windows. Folding will run okay, but not particularly fast on the Xeon 5150 processors as they only support SSE, not AVX.

As a side note, please leave the logging verbosity set to its default of 3. The additional information from the higher verbosity is not useful.

You might not be able to run on osx 10.7 either. I believe core a8 was compiled with -faligned-new, which probably requires osx 10.13.

Core_A8 will run on 10.12.6, it does quite well on my one system running that OS still. I don't currently have any older OSs available to run to check. The original versions of Core_A8 would run on 10.7, but newer versions were created when the core was ported to run on ARM systems under Linux. I don't recall the oldest OS the current Core_A8 was compiled for.

Steve, I run FAH on an old MacBook, just because I can.
Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) and Client version 7.6.9 on a measly 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Still crunches on some of the smallest work units.
