Welcome to the folding support forum.

The text identification is strictly cosmetic, the GPU is identified to the folding client by the PCI ID number. AMD uses the same few GPU sections across many of the Ryzen processors, so the entry was created based on the first report of that ID number. The text field is only used for display purposes by the client. In this case the GPU section of the chip is yet another Radeon RX Vega 8 variant, and since the PCI ID is the same across various processors which use it as an iGPU it is not possible to distinguish between them.

Getting the AMD drivers installed under Linux so they are properly detected by the client can be problematic. A few have written up how they did so in the past, some of the details will depend on the exact version of Linux you are using.

I see. So GPUs.txt does not need to be updated for the 4800U?

I will search the forums for AMD driver installation guides/tips. Problematic is one way of putting it :)

That is correct, no update to GPUs.txt needed. Maybe at some point the entries may get cleaned up to be more generic, and just describe the various GPUs as being an iGPU on a Ryzen processor. That will all depend on when some volunteer has time to edit the entries.

I edited the entry to "Renoir" only which is the codename of those chips ...
