GeForce 1650 disabled

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

It is unlikely that any of the server experts will be available before business hours tomorrow, to begin looking at this.

Any updates here? I am bummed about not being able to spin up my GPU. It's the whole reason I bought this computer. :|

It is possible that it is fixed and no one communicated.

Try to delete GPUs.txt on your PC, then the Client will re-download it from the server. Perhaps it is fixed, and we are just in the dark.

Now it's done! Your card has a code 7 and should fold as soon as you have the new https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt

Code: Select all

Awesome! It’s working now.

Thank you all for getting this fixed!

Side question: what is the easiest way to “bounce” FAH without rebooting the computer? Mainly because pause/fold doesn’t actually restart the engine. I don’t need it now but maybe in the future...

In Windows, you pause all slots, then you quit FAH it here:

Then you restart it by double-clicking the Folding@home shortcut on the desktop.

The problem was the 1. I corrected it. It's now a 7.

(Whether it was a typo or a server software enhancement doesn't matter ... the effect is the same.)

I've got the exact same issue on a 460m. I can manually adjust the GPU.txt and it will show as ready, but wont pick up work.

Welcome to the folding support forum.

Manually adjusting your local copy will never work, the copy on the server is the one that counts. You can try the beta setting that should show up in the log if you are running the current version of the client.

That said, the 460M will likely not be able to process WUs within the deadlines and may fail on some projects to work at all. Current requirements for GPU folding are support for OpenCL 1.2. The Fermi based GPUs that include the 460M only fully support OpenCL 1.1 and some of the functions defined for 1.2. Which of those 1.2 instructions are available depends on the specific Fermi chip used, and GF11n chips support more than GF10n chips such as the GF106 used in the 460M does.

F@h support for use of CUDA instructions by the folding core starts with the Kepler series GPUs that came after the Fermi ones.

When you edited gpu.txt you didn't read the message at the top of that file. It tells you that you can't edit the file. Was it not understandable?

Fermi and the GTX460m will NOT be supported because the capabilities of OpenCL >= 1.2 are required, as Joe_H has already said.
