I still find the 3080 consumes a LOT more power than the 2080 Ti.
I'm wondering if it's linked to the VRAM using a different type of architecture?
I think this 2 bit stage RAM is consuming more power than the 2000 series models.
I hope they'll find what sucks so much power on the 3000 series GPUs, because power/performance, they're not that much better than a 2080Ti.

Not as much of those owning RTX 2000 series GPUs and upgraded, but a lot of GTX1000 series GPUs upgraded to 3000, will bump PPD by a factor of ~5x.

Remember that the CUDA update favored 1080 and 1080 Ti cards too. It gave those a cards a free speed increase of about 30% and 25% respectively. Also the 3080 needs large work units to be fully utilized, so in practice you might only see a closer to 3x or 4x PPD bump from going from a 1080 or 1080Ti to a 3080.
