what is the fastest OS for folding @ home?
Re: what is the fastest OS for folding @ home?
I have done this this spring (before Moonshot): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 8pvDWMXp0/
In substance, for CPU folding, the less overhead the better. For GPU folding, I could not find any sustained difference.
But it might have changed with Moonshot and/or Cuda. And it might also change soon with MS GPU Scheduling: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/ ... cheduling/

Linux is faster than Windows. I don't know if any linux distro has an advantage over another linux distro? Intel Clear Linux maybe as it is extreme optimized for performance, but can it run FAH?

Assuming that you're an expert in Linux, F@H supports Debian and Fedora based OS so choose something within that family. If you're not an expert in Linux, then stick with Ubuntu/Mint and you will have a smooth experience. The only issue would be installing FAHControl due to python 2 dependency which will be addressed in a future build. A workaround does exists if needed.
