They are all the same die for the iGPU portion, AMD just disables different numbers of shaders. The iGPU Vega 11 uses all shaders, the 8 and 10 use fewer.

AMD does not differentiate between those various devices and neither does FAH.
Would it make you happy if wie identified them all as Raven [Radeon RX Vega (various)]

Probably doesn't matter, Picasso and Raven appear to be the codenames for the APU lines, no difference notable in the iGPU chiplet that gets installed on the carrier with the CPU chiplets inside the processor. Essentially AMD designed a GCN 5 GPU chip, continued making it in 14 nm for use in several generations of APUs as they did die shrinks on the CPU chips.

maybe it matters for f@h cause it refused to start, while it apparently doesn't matter for darktable thats happy with the opencl implementation it finds ...

Please understand, as long as you keep looking at a a non-issue you will not find the fix. Let me say this clearly, as I and Bruce have said - It does not matter for F@h - period. The problem is somewhere else.

It might be worth asking if you have run GPU-Z to confirm the device ID. It seems some of the newer APU's identify differently, as in the case of Renoir devices. So in this instance it appears my initial assumption was likely wrong... Vega 8 in one may identify differently than Vega 8 in another. i found my fault now, fahclient had group entries but wasn't in the render group: i wrote fahlient in the render group entry in /etc/group instead of fahclient ...
now its running a 11760 WU with estimated PPD of 78842

Please post some updates here and there on your PPD returns. As another APU owner, it's just interesting to me the path they chose going to Vega 8 on some of the newer chips, but bumping clock speeds up a bit. I suspect at some point they might do the same with the Vega 11 onboard, but only time will tell. For reference, that's only a little bit slower than my 2400G was on the same project, using DDR4-3200 memory. Bumping GPU clocks up netted me 11-13K PPD more on the same project. From what I've seen the Vega 8 will reach almost the same clock speeds as the 11 does, so it should be there for the taking if you want.
And wait for the smaller atom count projects that exist out there, and that little APU will surprise you. Though I'm currently running one small atom count that has a dismal PPD return, that is the exception. Usually the smaller ones that drop returns on the mid and high end cards are easy picking for the APU, and I've seen PPD returns as high as 165+ K PPD. Fairly amazing for such low power draw.
Fold them if you get them!

Here and there I see "freak" projects that perform better or worse and outside of the norm, but I guess the same is essentially true with dedicated cards. I use HFM to monitor returns and try to figure it out, not that it always actually helps me figure it out. But the trends are there, just exceptions to the rule now and then.
I'm glad you got it working. They actually return quite well for the power draw.
