How often are stats updated? One hour? Three hours?

Post by agrikk »

On the F@H statistics page (https://foldingathome.org/statistics/) it says "The donor and team stats are updated every hour, although this can be delayed if there were a lot of work units to come back during that hour. "

But on the stats-teams-usernames page (https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/s ... usernames/) it says "These files are updated every 3 hours."

What is correct?

Stats seems to be updated more often, maybe once in an hour to varying degrees, EOC from stats database once in 3 hours.

They both are usually always late.

It doesn't matter in long term.

It does matter to me as I am building a folding site and want to know how often I should pull the stats files.

So somewhere between one and three hours then.

They slowed the updates down to help the stats server load.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the text file for all stats is updated every three hours.

Buried here under "How can I get a copy of all current stats?": https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/s ... usernames/

There are two methods of obtaining the stats from foldingathome.org. You can query the database directly and you can download the flat-files. Those flat-files are generated explicitly for those who which to obtain up-to-date snapshots of the entire db. The other 3rd party stats sites do download the flat files every three hours. A direct query of the database should not be used in a script in an attempt to get more frequest updates.

The stats are maintained in a massive database and the computer resources required to add each hour's updates can be delayed by excessive random queries.
