I deleted the core, started FAH again, rebooted at the "Files status OK" line.

I deleted it and got a new (different) WU that is running fine.

Hello Mark_N, welcome to the Folding Support Forum.

You didn't list your system specs, but the only way fah can cause a system to reboot is if the system has insufficient or blocked cooling, broken fan, etc. The v5.x client is very mature and stable.

When was the last time you cleaned out the PC's cooling fans, vents, etc.?

System is Athlon XP1900+, SOYO Dragon Plus, 512 MB ram, WinXP SP3. The system is NOT overclocked, has "Load Optimzed Defaults" in the bios. It had a thorough cleaning in early May when I replaced the HD with a larger one. I checked the CPU temp while the current unit (P2170) was running: 49C.

This machine has been folding since April 2004 and this is the first time I've ever had to delete a unit. I did have a WU reboot the system before, in December I think, but I deleted the the core, ran it with "standard loops" for a couple hours, and it ran fine. I think the core somehow had become corrupted. That's why I tried deleting the core this time as well.

For what it's worth, I zipped the "work" folder before I deleted the unit, if somebody want to check it.
