GPU WU for 14415 causes crashes

Post by ky0ko »

I've been folding successfully with this machine for several weeks. This morning I woke up to a garbled display and a no longer running FAHClient. I am running a Ryzen 2600X with an RX Vega 56 both at stock clocks on Arch Linux, using the AMDGPU-PRO OpenCL driver (packaged as opencl-amd in the arch repositories), with kernel 5.4.31. Within seconds after starting FAHClient, the gpu crashes and my displays show only garbage, and FAHClient is killed.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this? Should I just dump the WU?

Re: GPU WU for 14415 causes crashes

Post by Joe_H »

I see no one has responded, if you haven't already, dump the WU. The WU itself was not bad, someone else has run it successfully. There may just be some aspect of the WU that is not working with the drivers and software setup on your system.

One question, are the interrupts to the GPU core 22 at the end of the log from something you did or from the system?

Re: GPU WU for 14415 causes crashes

Post by ky0ko »

They are not from something I did. When the GPU crashes, the process gets killed, apparently regardless of how it was run. I normally run FAHClient manually in my desktop environment, but I also tried on a VT, through an SSH session, and as a system service, all with the same results.
