I'm new to F@H but thought I would do my bit and contribute our small render farm to the project.
I've got everything up and running on all of our machines and they've been running for a few days. The web control states 'Ready' but I've just looked at the advanced controls log and noticed the following appear to keep popping up:

09:29:19:WU01:FS01:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
09:29:19:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Failed reading core package header.
09:30:09:ERROR:Receive error: 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
Is this due to server issues or something I need to resolve at my end?
Is there any way I can check if my firewall is the issue (I've added all F@H related applications to exceptions in my firewall)
The only part of the F@h software that needs access through your firewall is FAHClient. The other components by default only communicate locally on your PC with FAHClient, though FAHControl can be configured to monitor and control other systems running F@h remotely.
Specifically, FAHClient needs to communicate using HTTP(S), ports 8080 and 80, both inbound and outbound, the same as a web browser. Antimalware may also need to be configured to allow this same exception, some by default only allow HTTP data transfer by "known" web browsers.
The error 997 from some reports is just logging a message from the OS, this appears related to recent AMD Ryzen processors. As I understand it, that is a separate issue from the core download not working.

I can access that URL via Chrome, FF and Edge on that particular machine, no issues. There isnt any additional av software running aside from the Windows 10 defaults. I've added the client to the windows firewall exceptions list and I added the foldingathome domain to the safe list on our hardware firewall but I'm not really sure what else to look for on that (as I'm no expert when it comes to that device - It's a Kerio Control box).
Interesting you mention Ryzen, these machines are all running Threadrippers! Is it safe to just ignore the 997 error at this stage?
So interestingly I just disabled Windows Defender and the windows 10 'Real-time protection'. This seems to have resolved the core package header errors, but still states the following:

08:30:09:ERROR:Receive error: 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.

I just noticed that in our hardware firewall security logs, these two addresses have been getting blocked over the last few days and according to a whois they belong to RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE).
83.100.199.98 and 83.100.199.99 ...are these f@h related?
My 3990x has the overlapped error between 100 and 500 times per hour, it makes reading the log in advanced impossible or doing anything really. Very annoying, if I want to pause a slot by the time I've right clicked and pressed pause the log error has refreshed the page and I click on the wrong slot!

As far as I know, those are not F@h related. RIPE is the network address authority for Europe, the only server currently in Europe is based in France, and has a totally different IP address. You can see a list of servers for F@h here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats - the IP addresses are accurate for all but assign2. That shows a local IP, the actual IP is 18.something hosted on an AWS server.

@ scerbera If you uncheck "Follow" at he bottom right of the log window, it stops updating.

OK thank you, none of those IP's appear to be getting dropped looking through the security logs.
