Is it possible to Multi-computer fold for 1 WU?
Is it possible to connect multiple computers let's say 2 laptops, or 2 desktop computers and have them both fold 1 WU. I think what I'm referring to would be called load balancing.
Re: Is it possible to Multi-computer fold for 1 WU?
Not really. Every atom exerts forces on every other atom, and while some are far enough away from others that the force is too small to matter, there's still a lot more atoms that are between them that are affected. When these inter-atomic forces are calculated, it takes a lot of time to calculate them, but the time-lag in moving that information between one laptop and another would take a lot longer than working on one protein at a time. You can't really treat the problem like you have two independent proteins that can be calculated independently of each other and then figure out how they interact once each one is completely understood.
