Servers overloaded?

Post by Christian_Luecke »

Hi guys,

for several hours I am trying to participate in the folding. Most of the time, there is no WU, which is "okay"... I read about the lack of WU's due to the great mass of participants. But everytime I get a WU, I can't start downloading it, because the connection fails. Is it because of to many clients accessing the servers?
Just a few moments ago, I could manage to be in place, when the connection should be established. I tried calling the server fro my browser which didn't work, while the client tried to connect (without success). When the next poll said "no WUs for this configuration" I tried to connect to the former server via browser again and it worked instantly.

Here is the latest try of the client connecting to the server to get the WU. As far as I noticed, my client already tried every server (used the list from troubleshooting post) without success, so this is just an example for what happens the whole day with different IP addresses.

Code: Select all

11:43:50:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 65.254.110.245:8080
11:43:50:WU00:FS00:Assigned to work server 40.114.52.201
11:43:50:WU00:FS00:Requesting new work unit for slot 00: READY cpu:15 from 40.114.52.201
11:43:50:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 40.114.52.201:8080
11:44:11:WARNING:WU00:FS00:WorkServer connection failed on port 8080 trying 80
11:44:11:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 40.114.52.201:80

Yes, that is a "normal" set of errors resulting from server overload. The team are aware and are trying to ramp up to cope with the 20x increase in F@H clients.

20 times increase?
So Corona has some benefit at all.
A certain amount of donors are likely to stick around after the heat is off :)
