Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available
Looks like configuration errors on the servers. Can't tell us all that our firewalls are messed up and we have folded for over 15 years just fine until all these people jumped in to help.

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available
No, just some firewall devices do this apparently. When I checked with the person handling the servers, the "assignment ID" requests were going out at a fairly steady rate.
Many firewalls have settings for blocking traffic to "raw" IP addresses as used many times by the client.

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available
I've been having this issue for about 24 hrs now, so it's probably something else than my firewall configuration.
Looks like this in the log:
Pausing and resuming does not help at all.
Looks like this in the log:

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available
Don't take my word for it as I'm no expert, but I'm getting the same. It doesn't stop new WUs coming down from time to time, although this recent "stoppage" has lasted about three days now.
I think the message is conveying that F@H have been overwhelmed with new Folders (great) after press publicity and that they are struggling to get new WUs designed (or whatever) and released. I'm just leaving it polling and, no doubt, it will pick up a unit soon.
Happy to be corrected, but that's my untutored reading of the situation.

Update; I won't link to the announcement as last time I tried a crosslink I got "banned permanently"! I appealed but don't want to risk a crosslink again!
This is from the Server Outages and limitations thread on the Announcements - Pande Group Forum on the top board:

Here's a summary of current Folding@Home situation :
We know about the work unit shortage
It's happening because of an approximately 20x increase in demand
We are working on it and hope to have a solution very soon.
Keep your machines running, they will eventually fold on their own.
Every time we double our server resources, the number of Donors trying to help goes up by a factor of 4, outstripping whatever we do.

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available
Thank you for the update. I thought there was something wrong with my client and reinstalled it. One unit processed and then it stopped again. I was about to just delete it again but decided to research the error just in case there was a general announcement about this behavior. Glad I check and found your post!
