Total Beginner - How do I load projects and/or connections?

I've installed FAH on three separate machines and launched both the web control and the advanced control to look around, but I don't see how to get the FAH client to connect to a server and start working on processing data.

How do I get FAH actually do what it's supposed to do?

Part of the problem is that Folding@home is currently experience a massive and unprecedented number of newcomers and new computers, which have consumed most of the workunits in the queue. The research groups are working very swiftly to get new servers online and get more disease and viral research projects into the queue. So its possible that everything is set up correctly, but its just struggling to find an available workunit at this exact moment. I expect that this situation will improve over the next day or so.

Hello All,
Like many, I wanted to contribute to the current work on COVID-19 / SARS COV2
I reached the article by John Chodera and I downloaded the FAH App V 7.5.1 and got a F@H Client Advanced Control window

In the clients I see an IP address 127.0.0.1:36330
Project 14328
Work server 155.247.164.214

It is running.. but I am not sure it is the correct project...

I am using MacOS 10.13.6

Could someone tell me if I am on the right track please ?

I have the same problem. Im behind a firewall but that shouldn't be a problem.

With no action on my part, this machine suddenly just now started processing something and is using 95% of the CPU and 44% to 55% of the GPU.

Does it just take a while to make a connection or did someone do something remotely to connect my computer?

I may set up other computers in addition to this one. Do I just run the FaH client and wait until it automatically connects to an Assignment Server to get another work unit? Did I unknowingly configure something on this computer to allow it to connect to an Assignment Server?

Yes, the default installation has set everything correctly. The log shows "situation normal".
See the post from Jesse_V above which outlines the issue with delays in allocation of work.
You do not need to do any extra configuration.
