Sig images

Post by Penfold »

While I'm still awake, I have a small niggle I'd like to have sorted out, please. Up until today I had the sig image in my signature - name, points total, points per day etc. For some treason* I managed to delete it in all the trauma of the frozen WU. I used this to try to recover it

Code: Select all

[URL=https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781][IMG]https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/IMG][/URL]
However I then get this message: It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.

Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong here? It worked before.

Edit: * treason? Surely not …

Try the following:

Code: Select all

[img]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/img]
Using my EOC id in the above results in:

Bollix, I tried, by copying and pasting, your suggestion and got the same error message.
Can you see what I might have done wrong here?

Code: Select all

[URL=http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781][img]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/img][/URL]
I note that I had had 'https' rather than the 'http' you suggest. Does that matter. I tried both, btw.

No, https vs http makes no difference in this case.
As you can see below both the format I suggested & the one you're using work:

Code: Select all

[img]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/img]
Using the above without the code tags results in the following:
Image

Code: Select all

[url=http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781][img]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/img][/url]

The only difference I see is an extra line under the box using your method.

Do you have "Disable BBCode" checked? If so, remove it. You can see that Option below any posting/edit window and in User Control Panel > Profile > Edit signature

The BBCode box is unchecked.

I copied and pasted the second CODE:SELECT ALL version from your post. I'll go back over it again with my fine toothed brain.

Now I can't even get 'Ubuntu 18.4.3' nor 'F@H v 7.5.1' to appear in my sig. That is, I don't have a sig anymore.

BBCode is shown to be On, and the 'Disable BBCode' checkbox is unchecked.

EDIT: 'Ubuntu 18.4.3' nor 'F@H v 7.5.1' appear on my first post but not on the rest. In desperation I logged out and then back in. Tried

Code: Select all

[URL=https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781][img]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=611781[/img][/URL]
again, but no go.

Total absence of sig now. Can anyone suggest a way to overcome this, please?

Signatures are only shown once on a page and your signature is in a post near the top of the page.

OK thanks - didn't realise that.

Can this thread be transferred to 'Issues with this forum' in the Stats & Server Issues section? I should maybe have started it there.

I have been looking into this, and think I have identified the forum setting that is causing this problem. I will do some further checking and will return to this topic when I know more.

OK, Joe. Thanks.

Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but I am encountering the same issue described here by @Penfold.

Again, specifically, including the following in my signature:

Code: Select all

[img]https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?u=854248[/img]
results in phpBB throwing the following error:
It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.

I can apparently use this image successfully in a post body, no problem:
Image

...just not in my signature :(

From his Oct 10th post, it sounded like @Joe_H was closing in on a potential solution for this issue. Is there a known fix for this?

Thanks!

I thought I was on to a solution ... then that turned out not to be it. Still looking , but spending more time learning the internals of the forum software to get ready for updating the forum to a current version.

Thanks, Joe! No worries, was just hoping there might be a simple fix from my side. Strange how it only affects some users and not others. Bizarre. Good luck on the upgrade.

It appears to be connected with when the sig image was added. I added mine years ago, people adding recently are getting an error message. I get the same message when I try to fix it for someone, my guess is that some obscure forum setting got changed at some point and that is keeping them from working the same.
