F@H and Display Properties.

Post by alpha »

I downloaded the newest F@H client on one of my older PC's, when I did that and a WU uploads my Display Properties changes Color Quality to 8 bit.............WHY?????

I set it to 32 bit and the upload changes it back to 8 bit. When I look there and pull the tab down, there isn't a 8 bit there. Does anyone have an answer??

I still can't run F@H on my new $2,00.00+ machine. I really wish I could find out why to that question too.

I've never seen FAH change the display poperties directly.

I do know that there are some problems with the GUI display and 32-bit color, but it works with 16-bit color.

What hardware and what software?

And what do you mean by "downloaded newest fah client" ? What type and version? There are lots to choose from. Thanks.

The PC is a Compag Preserio, I am running V 5.0.3 (I believe) and I run the GUI.

I'm not sure what Computer specs, GPU, OS, and GPU driver version are. This PC is about 4 years old and I've never had a problem with the older V of F@H. I upgraded a month ago and thats when I started having problems.

The GUI 5.03 client can sometimes interfere with display drivers. The best solution is to change to the v5.04 console client. It does not have any graphics, so you can revert to your normal graphics settings.

The 5.04 Console client runs exactly the same Work Units as the 5.03 GUI client, so you can uninstall 5.03, put 5.04 in the same folder, and continue with the current WU. Read the installation notes and FAQs if you need, to configure the client and set the appropriate flags (if necessary).

It doesn't play nice with 16 bit either.
