FahCore returned: CORE_OUTDATED (110 = 0x6e)
Post by Dr.G »

Hello,
Just today I received the following error message:
FahCore returned: CORE_OUTDATED (110 = 0x6e)
on project:10494 run:3 clone:30 gen:0 core:0x21 unit:0x000000048ca304f555de931550fded22

Now stuck- no further downloads / progress.
:(
Error seems similar to https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-cl ... ssues/1137
ie Infinite loop: CORE_OUTDATED ( 0x6e) and missing debug info in Error msg. #1137
:e?:
PS I also noticed lots of:
WARNING:WU01:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '171.67.108.204:80': Empty work server assignment
in the earlier log

Any Suggestions??
:?:
Many thanks for your suggestions (and time)!

The frequent EMPTY WORK SERVER ASSIGNMENT problem has been corrected.

Following a CORE_OUTDATED, you should see the client download a newer version of the core. I'm not sure why you don't see it.
Do you have a proxy or security software that's blocking certain internet connections by FAHClient?

Please post the first page of your log per the instructions below. That should answer questions like:
* Do you have a 64-bit operating system?
* What type of GPU do you have?
* How much RAM do you have?

@ bruce
Wow that was a quick reply!
No, newer core not downloading.
First page not available I'm afraid, as I'm logged in via remote access and don't get the first page of the log (log too long?).
I'll try to get the log off the computer with the problem directly tomorrow, and post it here
No proxy or security software...
Thanks!

@ bruce
did a 'refresh' to get the top of the log
GPU 0 is a 7970 (I think!?)

If you're running FAHControl, go to the "Log" tab. At the bottom, uncheck the Follow box (so it doesn't update while you're working) and click Refresh. Scroll to the top and post everything down to the word </config>

Wow. You got most of it before I wrote this.

Fortunately, you can't update the core when it's in use. In this case your other slot is also processing a core_21 project. Right click on that slot (01) and select Pause. After the core updates you can right click on it again and select Fold.

Please note this is not the recommended way to update a core version on systems with multiple GPUs. The recommended way is to Finish the work units on all GPUs, then let the upgrade proceed.

However, the latest core revision was minor, and upgrading mid-work unit has low risk of corrupting the work units in progress.
