AMD Exascale APU processor

Post by TonyStewart14 »

This won't be released until 2016 or 2017, but it looks like it could be very powerful for folding as it has a significant GPU component in addition to 32 CPU cores. If there's a bigadv-style class of WUs specifically for it, this could do a lot of damage.

Possibly AMD's response to this ... http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/2112 ... ercomputer
Whether or not they are trying to get that massive contract fact is, well, read above link.

Now the question begs, after this beast is built, where will the burn in test take place??? I for one plan to spend an few minutes each month up to the release of this monster hinting that F@H could be a nice burn in test area. Could clean up a lot of unfinished work in a day or two. The goal here always was a exaflop right? Well, I say we challenge the operators of this supercomputer to see what kind of work they can get done with said monster of machinery. Sure it wont be built anytime too soon, but what better time to start asking where the burn in test will be :)
