GPU points

Post by EPski »

I have just updated my computer to a FX_8320[8 GB RAM] and a Radeon R9 270 [2 128GB Crutial SSD, I hope to raid....]
this has happened a few times now and is frustrating. A few big GPU WU have gone unaccounted for in my score. I have a passkey set up. two or three ~ 50,000 point WU's have simply not been tallyed. And the consecutive work unit each time is already ~50% complete. So my score is about 150K points low. Is there something I did not find in the small-print, the F@H site has a lot of it, it is disguised as text!

My GPU WU's also get stuck at 2 seconds, sometimes until I reset my computer.

Longer then 24 hours ? Sometimes it takes time; also as we experienced a recent downtime in stats server the catchup might take time.
In doubt you can send the PRCG to a moderator here, they have a magic glassball in which they can see what happen to specify WU.

I figured as much, I am new to credit cards too.... sound like the same deficiency! It was just that my new GPU was getting bigger WU, and then I was not getting credit for them, I guess they are going to their appropriate slots in the problems they're a part of., if there is a real time accountability console, that I don't have.[ I will be sure to write my congressmen about it though!] As long as the WU are being retrieved by the server, I guess I can go without the points, but it would be nice...In a few years I hope to have a parallel desktop computer, like a c-32 or a g-34 with dual or quad Opterons. I guess that is about as much as a home user can contribute to F@H, The bigadv. hopefully by then they will make video games with better diction

Until you post the missing work unit Project number with the Run, Clone, and Gen numbers, the only way to be sure the work is uploading back to Stanford is to check the fah log.

Also, the BigAdv bonus program has ended, but quad optis can still fold regular work units. Running multiple GPUs instead of CPUs seems to be the current high points option.

I did not know the bigadv was a bonus program, maybee another one will arise in the future. The gpu just finished another one, no credits, I did get 40k for the last WU though so I am 1 for 4 or 5 GPU WUs. I was scrolling thru the log and gave up at when the scroll auto resets.....I am not quick enough! and I do not know what I am looking for. Any way to disable it? I just may get another pitcairn.[but soon]. I just changed from a AM3+ desktop Opteron 3280 to a FX-8320, nice. Is there any difference with data flops with them? does it really matter at the single cpu level? 24 Gflops Opteron; 34 for the FX. may there be double or single precision factors with the Opteron? I don,t get competitive with points I like server kudos.

There should be a check box on the bottom right that say 'follow' - deselect it!

Failing that, the current and previous log files can be found in the client directory:

C:/Users/yourName/AppData/Roaming/FAHClient/ by default on windows.

The relevant text is going to be something like "03:59:13:WU00:FS01:Sending unit results: id:00 state:SEND error:NO ERROR project:9141 run:372 clone:0 gen:1 core:0x18"

Just searching for "Sending unit" should get you there. Failing that, just post the whole contents here with /code tags

I will do that starting now and maybe taking note of the WU number / date for accounting. No sense in backtracking for 150,000points.?!~ :-{\ and I am just new to this. I have seen about 3 other large distributed computing projects.[one tracks aliens mathematically!] The points per day is if the computer stays on at current settings throughout WUs assignments? The estimated points is how I have been trying to account, they seem to adjust down during the WU for gpu, and for cpu the estimated points stay constant thru to completion. I do not desire to post the 3 or 4 WU lost , I just started with the GPU, I hope things get ironed out. I will keep record for now though.

Ok now I have a glitch I think. In the roaming path mentioned above I only have like 2 days of log history and the projects that are indicated stop at `20% temp controll disabled for nvidea...the 9th and 10th are only listed. I can't get screenshot to paste to this entry box. there is a folder for logs and a few log files after main client folder. No history at all. my machines been folding all day and its not indicateing correct history either, or any history, do I need to enable that in the client? I do not have the WU numbers or history to reference which ones are missing only the last 4 or 5, no logfiles past the 7th I think.

The log.txt file in your base FAH folder and the logfile_xx.txt in your data folder are only the most recent. I have log files for the past 2 months in the \data\logs folder under my base FAH folder.

Once you find the logs you need, post them within the delimiters.

ok...I give up, I have used the code button before but have since COMPLETELY spaced how I did so. I used it in conjunction with the advanced web control though.
F@H Client folder/ I have no log/data folder or file, only a log folder and log files
the only other data log files are in work folder after log folder and before log files.

any and all log file locations under F@H client are [4]
c/users/me/app data/roaming/client/ logs[recent only
............................................./work/01/logfile[recent only
............................................./work/02/logfile[recent only
.............................................logfiles[recent only
this is the first time I have accessed this data and have been folding for a month solid at least , since I reinstalled windows. I plan on installing the free windows 10. I am reserved for the upgrade.

The information in ...\work\nn represents the CURRENT assignments so when you finish one WU and move on the next one, those files will disappear, to be replaced by ones with a different value for nn. Inside of ...roaming/FAHClient, you should find folders for \work, for \logs (etc.) along with the current log called log.txt. (It's the same one that's displayed by the Advanced Control application, which combines up-to-date information from the current \work\nn logs. FAHClient actually has filters so you can view data separately so it's the easiest way to view it.

Log.txt continues to grow except when you restart FAHClient, at which time the data is moved to the \logs folder and a new log.txt is started.

Why did the log folder start to cache the days logfiles when I noticed that the points accounting was off, [has corrected some , still ~110k off] might be like other computer things that were never there until you use, or need, them.[ I know Windows is like that.] I have had great difficulty getting true history .csv files for a few projects I undertook. Solar electric logging and weather logging, to the point where I just gave up.[my understanding of spreadsheets is limeted to LOTUS/Word Perfect, so when I tried to graph what I could get .. I did not understand Microsoft[or libreoffice]. Anyway., it seems to be working now so any further disparity with points can be traced. Than you all again for you help
