327.23 provides 3-4x more PPD??
I recently downgraded my driver for my 680 from 340.xx to 327.23 because I'm sick of seeing my screen lag when I'm folding. I noticed my PPD went from 25k-45k to 100k to 130k PPD. What's going on? Are the later drivers that bad?

No. Just a bug in their OpenCL code for all models of GPUs except gk110 models and all gmxxx cards. This is a well known issue. Even listed in the fah install guide.
