Try adding client-type advanced to one or both of your GPU slots to see if there's a change in assignment:

Using FAHControl (aka Advanced Control) Configure > Slots > gpu? > Edit > Add

Name: client-type
Value: advanced

OK > OK > Save.

It may or may not help you in your attempt to get a core 17 work unit but it's probably worth a try.

I received care_17 Wu's for each of my DPU's and my PPD = 502,150 if i run them and the CPU folding all day

So I guess it's all set up right. no error's and temps are reasonable :)

Full disclosure, the Advanced setting is for late stage beta testing work units. This only changes the risk value you are willing to take while folding, it does not specifically request core_17 work units. The mix of work units types changes as the testing needs change. Next week could be all core_18 work units, or none at all, and you'll be back to core_15s. Just be aware you may have to change your client type again in the future. The client type setting is not set and forget.

The download for the Core_18 WU is not shown, and must be farther back in the log. FAHControl can filter the log by folding slot, can you post the portion of the log showing the download and the beginning of attempts to download the core. We need that information to see which project and server are involved, it appears there is a bad server setting and you should not have been assigned a Core_18 WU. My understanding is that Core_18 is still in beta testing, and have not seen a notice that has changed. The manager for the server will be contacted to check the settings; or if the project has moved from beta to advanced, to supply the core in the download location.

Edit: Shortly after first posting this response, an announcement was posted that some Core_18 projects were moving to advanced. If the core still has not downloaded for your client, please do post the log so we can let the manager know to get the core in place for downloads.

I am currently folding just on the 5x GTX 460's for aprox. 70K PPD

Thank you all. Like i said in the beginning of this note, I am new to this, I won this Rig with a lot of computing cycles and want to do something good with it. I'll be patient, learn the ropes and hopefully down the road help the next new person

Question: So one of my GPU's is stuck now.... is there a way to reset it to allow a different WU to be assigned or do i leave it alone and when Core_18 is working it will start working again on it's own without having me do anything ?

Try pausing the slot and then unpause it. since the Core_18's are no longer being assigned it should fix the issue. It should also fix itself if you leave it alone but that may take a while.

It will take more than just pausing and unpausing the slot since the WU for Core_18 has already been downloaded. As I recall from the last time a similar issue came up, you will probably have to delete the GPU slot and recreate it. In addition you might have to remove the downloaded WU from your work folder as it could be retained by the client to run on the other GPU slot.
