The advanced setting is a request for advanced work units, not a request for core_17 work units. Core_17 is one of many types of advanced work units. You will always get a mix of WUs when there are multipe options available.
... and the advanced flag is not intended as a tool to play the "point-maximizing logic game." Even though it might work that way briefly, it denotes the risk associated with specific projects, and that change frequently. You have to decide to use it or not use it based on your risk tolerance. it will never mean what you'd like it to mean, nor will the data you're looking for to satisfy your goals ever be readily available.

Haven't seen a single C17 WU on my three folders since the core got release into the wild and I took the advanced flag off. Finally shut down #3 since it's coil-whining like the whistle from hell while working C15 WUs, couldn't stand it any more. Would be nice to have a flag that tells a server "gimme C17 WU or nuthin'".

I highly doubt that such a flag would be created for a temporary situation. Once FahCore_15 and FahCore_16 Projects are over, all supported GPUs will be shifted to FahCore_17. It is only a matter of time and there isn't any ETA as to when that will happen. Moreover, new FahCore_17 Projects may be released which will help with this transition.
ETA:
Now ↞ Very Soon ↔ Soon ↔ Soon-ish ↔ Not Soon ↠ End Of Time

for a few weeks, I was getting wu's with 36K+ ppd on a 660Ti. I did not look for core_XX so I don't know if it was core_17. been on a steady diet of _15's.

(hijacking in progress) ETA for EOL on core_11?

EOL was already announced. Fahcore_11 ends when the WUs run out. If you fold faster, the ETA is sooner, so no ETA would ever be accurate, and so no ETA is given.

thank you for clearing that up 7im. I'll have to get the other two GTX295's folding. that would be a step towards faster.
