But I am wondering whether anyone knows if they will use Core_17, or Core_15, or maybe even something else?
It might be useful to know for hardware upgrade purposes, if need be.

Core 17 I would think. The projects under the old cores will finish off eventually and core 17 will be the dominating GPU core. At least that's what proteneer had indicated on his Reddit AMA. According to the blog, core 17 is much easier to launch projects under anyway.
I'm really excited about this news too. Personally, I would have no objections if FAH was focused on cancer research, but I suppose everyone has their preferences.
