impossible to download a bigadv WU from 128.143.231.201

Hi.

Since two days, i can't download a bigadv WU from 128.143.231.201 server .

And even 128.143.199.97 seems not work.

I was using client v6 and change to client v7 but no improvement .

No problem here getting bigadv work units.

You need a minimum of 16 cores and two slot options to get these work units:

Name: client-type
Value: bigadv

Name: max-packet-size
Value: big

BTW bigadv only runs on linux.

Were you getting bigadv WU's before and did it just stop getting them all of the sudden? if so I would check your firewall settings etc. the problem is most likely on your end I am getting bigadv WU's from .201 with no problems on 7 bigadv rigs. A complete v6 and v7 log may be of some help so we can see how you have it set up, but if it is a firewall or ISP problem we will not be able to tell from the log we can only verify whether you have fah set up correctly or not from the log.

Thanks for your answers but i came back from work this evening, checked my 3 computers and the client v6 and v7 folds bigadv again.

Of course i changed nothing since this morning and don't know how to explain this sudden change . For me it is a mystery.

It could have been a change by your internet provider, or something else that allowed the connection to happen while you were at work. If it happens again, first try the troubleshooting steps listed in the first topic of this forum for Issues with a specific server. Post the results of those steps, a bit more about your setup and a longer portion of your log file, to give us more to go on.

Ok but all my 3 computers are not at the same location so i don't believe that this is a problem of my internet provider but next time i will follow your advise step by step.
However i was worried about this situation and wanted to know if there was not a specific problem with bigadv units.

According to the data collected by serverstat, no interruptions in services provided by 128.143.231.201 were noted near the time that you made your report. Certainly "two days" makes no sense. The serverstatat report might have missed a brief outage (5 or 10 or maybe 15 minutes) but then we'd just have to chalk it up to "unknown" and to impatience on your part. It seems more likely that your DNS service wasn't working correctly but your log doesn't show that and you didn't report the responses to "do this first"

The failure of a single connection attempt is meaningless. How long did you let it retry after rebooting?

Here are two log file of two different computers ( from two different locations which i can control with Teamviewer ) showing you the problem at the end of file .
These shows you that it was impossible to receive any new WU during at least 15 hours for the first computer and 10 hours for the second computer.

I shortened the first in the middle of the file because it was too long.

Thanks but i found your topic two days ago and sadly, it didn't solve the problem.

At one time you also needed to set the packet-size to big to get -bigadv WU's. The V7 parameter is max-packet-size set to big, I forget the V6 syntax and that is not on the V6-V7 differences page.

In the Advanced section of the V6 configuration, you can set packetsize={small | normal | big | (a numerical value)} just like the V7 setting for packet-size.
