Guru Meditation is another way of saying the software crashed, but you can pretty well figure that out from the other messages.

Either:
A) The WU, itself, contained data that could not be analyzed ... or
B) The current developmental version of FahCore_17 has a bug that (hopefully) will be quashed before it's ready for a full release ... or
C) Your GPU is overclocked/overheated enough to be producing calculation errors.

The error was reported to the server and you received partial credit. It will be assigned to someone else to see whether option C applies or not.

Hi Nicolas_orleans (team 33),
Your WU (P8900 R476 C1 G70) was added to the stats database on 2013-07-23 11:00:35 for 1320 points of credit.

The reassigned WU was successfully completed by the next person which indicates that option C applies. See what you can do to make your GPU stable.

Hi xxxx (team xxxx),
Your WU (P8900 R476 C1 G70) was added to the stats database on 2013-07-23 17:00:48 for 29112 points of credit.

Thanks bruce, I will check overheating since no OC on my card !

Another potential cause of hardware-induced errors is a power supply that can't quite provide enough current at 12v.

18 months of folding is no guarantee the current settings will work on a new type of work unit. How much is your Radeon overclocked?

I didn't overclock my GPU at all. It's working with a stock frequences: 775 MHz GPU, 1000 MHz VRAM. I strongly object overclocking. Stability is the first! :!:

What driver version are you using? Have you tried underclocking your GPU or cleaning it out? Are the temperatures within the normal range?

No underclocking or overclocking. As I mentioned above - stock frequences only! Temperature of the GPU is also within normal range (about 68°C). But about the driver... I had Catalyst 12.3 installed all the time. But heeding to your comments, this morning I updated my drivers to the last version (Catalyst 13.4). And now my GPU has really become to handle 8900 jobs! But when those jobs are on the go, the graphical performance starts to be re-eally slo-o-ow! Even when I use windows desktop only. That's confusing me...

The screen lag issue that you are seeing is due to the lack of any scheduling system for the GPU. If you are bothered by the screen lag, here are some options for you:
1) Disable GPU acceleration in the programs that show screen lag, i.e. some web browsers, Windows, etc.
2) Configure your GPU to fold only when idle so you will never notice the screen lag.
ETA:

Hmm, more strange things ahead! :e?: PantherX, about your "method 1", I used non-accelerated simple windows theme all the time. And with 8900 jobs processing I had terrible lags even if I trying to open windows explorer. But interestingly, when I change the theme to more advanced one with GPU-acceleration I get a little less lags! How it can be?
By the way, may they give me something lighter? Before scheduling a new task, the workserver takes my system information, isn't it? So, they should be aware about my system performance and possibilities. I don't understand, what the reason is to assign too heavy tasks that the system can process only by being completely overloaded? All previous ATi/AMD projects are never loaded my GPU so hard. I could even play some lightweight games during the GPU calculations without any jams, like old good CounterStrike 1.6 and so on. Looks like I will have to suspend my GPU slot till they will start to assign more adequate tasks...

Core 17 work units use a newer more efficient code so it is able to work the GPU harder and get more science done quicker. That is why some systems experience lag on these new WUs but not on the old WUs.

As already recommended change the power slider setting to medium so the GPU slot only runs when the system is not in use.

The client does detect the characteristics of your system but the information reported to the server is quite limited so the decisions it can make about what to assign are in very general categories. Some time in the future, additional details might be reported to the servers and the servers might make more intelligent decisions but these are not easy changes to make so they're not likely to happen soon even though I'd really like to see this type of system enhancement.

From the reports I've seen, this seems to be a problem when Project 8900 is assigned to a GPU from the HD 5xxx series. I've been talking to the Pande Group about a better way to handle that combination but I can't promise anything any time soon.

It might be less of an issue with the higher end 5000 series cards such as the 5770 or 5870. I may get a chance to test this on my son's Mac Pro later on, he sometimes boots up into Windows to use software that only comes in Windows versions. The system has a 5870, others have reported that folding has worked well for them on one.
