trouble installing FAH on a new machine

Post by nogginthenog »

I have just built a new folding PC, a Q6600 on Xp Sp3, tried FAh fah-installer_7.1.52_x86.exe and fah-installer_7.2.9_x86.exe but both bring up a message saying the app cannot start because the config file is wrong.

Never had this problem before on several machines, any hints ?

I did notice, the config file created had differences from the sample file, in that it had v='xxx' rather than value='xxx' items in the config entries. Changing this made no difference.

Happy New Year to all folders !

Run the uninstall program and try again with a fresh download of 7.2.9. I haven't seen that problem with a half dozen installs.

edit- check the box to remove data files while uninstalling

Windows XP does have a couple of requirements in order for the FAHClient to function correctly.

Do you have .net and C++ installed as stated in the link above?
