CPU Points...
I am currently folding with an Intel 3820 and it seems to be getting me fewer points than I used to get with my i7-920 a couple years ago. Has the point system just changed or does it sound like something is wrong? WU are taking my machine about 6-7 hours and my CPU cores are all working. The stats are showing me getting about 1200-1300 pts per day.

Re: CPU Points...
What WUs are taking you 6-7 hours? Your PPD is way too low for that CPU. My 3930K gets 60k-80k PPD slightly overclocked, and it is not enormously more fast than the 3820.

^This, you now need a passkey, but tthats stil; low, as its only 2 units aday, I'm dong 4 on a 950.
Make sure youre running the a3 core, not the a4.

Re: CPU Points...
That would mean 3 to 4 WUs per day.WU are taking my machine about 6-7 hours
Most a4 core Wus will probably get you qualified faster but any a3 or a4 works. Also a5 but that one probably won't work on your computer.

Re: CPU Points...
The core should not matter, A3 and A4 do get roughly the same PPD, 1200-1300 sounds like no passkey or a passkey thats not qualified

Re: CPU Points...
Thank you. I will try putting in the passkey. I am pretty sure I haven't ever done that.

Re: CPU Points...
The user has no control over which core is used. When the Work server assigns a work unit, the FAH software makes sure the appropriate core is present.

Re: CPU Points...
Has it now changed that smp gives just a3 units?
I really haven't read my smp box log to see if its getting a4 units, but guess things change.

No. v6 seems to trend towards A3s, while V7 trends towards A4s.

Re: CPU Points...
I put in the key this morning so we will see if that helps. I notice that my client seems to be running A4s. It is estimating a credit of 4500 for the current WU but only been receiving the 400-700 for past ones. The current WU is taking about 2.5 hours.
Re: CPU Points...
At that rate you should be able to complete 10 sometime tomorrow and provided at least 80% are successful you should start receiving the quick return bonus. Keep in mind that some WUs take considerably longer than 2.5 hours.
