I would like to know how to move my work from my current XP to new Windows 7 machine. I started my own Team and would like to pick up where I left off. Should (can) I just move the Folding@Home folder to the new pc, or download and install? Would an install require joining my team, and if so would I retain the WUs?
Also, my folder contains several older FahCore_xx files. Can these be deleted?
Thanks, Mike

Welcome to the forum, mksmith44.
AFAIK, you can simply copy the FAH client directory as such if you are running the "no nonsense" console client - it doesn't require any installation in the first place. Better let the client finish the current WU though, by restarting the (console) client with the -oneunit flag. There is no harm in reinstalling or running clients on both the XP and Win7 machines either. You just enter your existing username and team (and possibly passkey) to the fresh installation. Neither returned WUs nor awarded points are stored locally, FAH servers keep track of them. Check the Stats links at the top, in case you aren't familiar with them yet.

Re: Moving to new PC
The most straighforward way of "transferring" work is probably to just finish the current WU on the old system and then make a fresh installation on the new OS. Either method will work.
If you run the no-nonsense client console, use the -oneunit flag. If you run the systray version, the option to stop when finished is on the context menu. Once the current WU has uploaded and no new one has been assigned, it's fine to discard that installation when you upgrade your system.

I do a fresh installation, then simply re-enter the username and passkey. You can have the same account on multiple machines as long as the passkey matches.

Thanks for your replies. I was able to move the hard drive to the new machine, restart FH, and pick up where I left off. Good to be back on board!
