Lol I read this (not the links) as "PS3" and it was making no sense at all!

Interesting read. Too bad F@H isn't currently doing a lot of P53/cancer related work, it could give us some very important insights.

Given that the bulk of work that Folding@Home accomplishes is basic research and not finely tuned towards any one specific physical application, I would imagine that results will benefit quite a number of disciplines and efforts, eventually. Computers keep becoming faster and faster, and F@H's software keeps becoming more efficient. Eventually there will be mountains of research that, I'm sure, will have benefits for many programs outside of the original charter.Too bad F@H isn't currently doing a lot of P53/cancer related work, it could give us some very important insights.

Sure F@H is doing a lot of basis research. But there are currently many projects around Abeta (an Alzheimer protein) which is quite specific research. I know that Folding@Home's resources are limited. It's a matter of what the PG prefers to to do with its resources, and currently most of them go to Alzheimer's, even though I would prefer cancer research (of course these decisions are not up to us).
