A team, or even a user name, are not required. Many people donate anonymously using the default settings in the client configuraion. Until you find a team, you can enter your user name and stay with the Default team.
If you use any other forums, look around and see if they have a team. I found out about this on a game forum, and joined their team. Many schools have a team. So do some professional groups, Europian Countries, hardware manufactureres, computer or gaming magazines, or regions of other Countries.
If your Location means you are in Quebec, I used that as the search term to check existing teams, and came up with 85 results.
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py
To find out more about the teams, click a name on the list. This will show you the team member list and give you an idea of how active they are. Click on the team logo/picture at the top of the page (below the F@H banner) to go to the team homepage (some teams don't have a picture/link). All you have to do to join a team is to enter a team number in the client configuration.
If you post a list of your hardware, we might have some suggestions on which clients to run.
Good luck.

A lot of people would love to have you on their team. The client you're running will do the job for the hardware you have. You can also run Folding@Home on your CPU in addition to running it on any graphics cards.
