How to get a better VIEWER/DISPLAY *HELP!!*

Somebody please show me how to go from the picture below to a view that looks like this one in the youtube video! Please help me! Im using a GTS250 nvidia. Below is what i see as a viewer for systray cpu, when i click display on the systray gpu it says "viewer.exe" crashes. Im using the beta maybe thats why its a known issue right? I just want mine to look that awesome to sit back and view it working but below is all i can see....






I want my viewer/display to look something like this! This is way more awesome and i would love to have that fullscreened on my computer like a screensaver.

DO NOT USE THE VIEWER!!!

Running the viewer will slow the client, sometimes to a standstill. It uses gpu resources that will no longer be available for folding. It is a buggy little holdover from the original screen saver client of yesteryear that has no current value.

Someday they may rework the viewer into a usable form, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

But why do some people have a better looking updated viewer without even doing anything but install

even if it stalls my work while i view it i want to see a screen like that!!! Please tell me how!

Do i need to uninstall and revert back to a previous release or use the non beta GPU client? Its worth it to me to get it to work im just now starting up FAH again since last use 2008

In one video i just watched that was 3 years old it looks like under config FAH used to have a "display" tab that had alot of neat options like only using FAH as a screensaver. Where did all that cool stuff go?

The screen saver is long gone. Again, do not use the viewer. The videos might be nice, but you'll have to choose between making pretty pictures, or actually crunching numbers for science. With the current state of the clients, you can't do both.

so where do the variations in display/viewer come from? People using older versions of FAH? or have they installed some sort of 3rd party software that allows them to view their progress in that way?

Hey so i just had a random problem that actually fixed what i was complaining about!

I used that driver cleaner utility talked about in TUTs on here, and it screwed up a bunch of stuff (WMP, my resolution, etc) I was trying to install nvidia 260.99_desktop_win7 and it was failing. So i restarted my computer.

After restart i tried reinstalling the new drivers and it worked! one more restart my rez was fixed, wmplayer was fixed, and now with the GPU3 beta the bug with the viewer must have gotten fixed! now i can see the advanced view tab, but only for my GPU display, the CPU display is still the old black screen. Look below

but i will heed your advice and i wont keep it open or use it too often. Im a big noob to folding but im breaking the surface. I got introduced to it by a professor at UF and i tried folding for them in 08 but i guess i only completed one WU for team0 lol. Now im folding for FGCU a local univ, and ive already got to #2 spot on my team! 2 out of 2 lol . but im shooting for #1! Maybe some of you people can reach out a hand to me and help me learn more about this and how to tweak my machine and possibly extend my folding power to the other 2 computers on my network. Im desperate for learning and im really intrigued by FAH! Send me your love and help! Also im in SWflorida so if any advanced users in my area let me know

hey pantherx will you help me find my user id on the website OCN that gives you the little signature stats ability? i found the webpage here:

But i cant seem to find myself or my team on there at all. My user name is prolecat and my team number is 157450. i cant seem to get my signature working someone elses name always comes up

there is no other way to generate a cool stats signature? i think im 1/2 people folding for my team FGCU lol. might take me a while to hit OCN website

I might be looking at things from a different perspective... but what if someone was able to create a folding 'loop' video that basically did the same thing as viewing a live folding performance...?

Perhaps there would be some way to 'insert' the user stats into the video from the log file?

yea that might be a solution to the first mentioned problem, but i found out the viewer on the beta GPU3 client works fine and has all the beauty and stats on it that i wanted so im happy now about that, originally it would just say "viewer.exe" had a problem and needed to close, i updated to newest nVidia drivers and restarted, used driver cleaning client, and now the viewer works and doesnt crash unless i hit the FULLSCREEN button, then it locks up and crashes, so i just drag it out and size it myself when i want to show someone the cool look of using your personal computing power to solve diseases.

Now i just need to figure out how to get MY stats as a signature! My team isnt top 6000 to make OCN's website, so idk how to make a sig to display my stats
