Monitor multiple machines in FahMon for Linux

Post by gmcintire »

Hey all. I'm pretty experienced with the Windows version of FahMon and have used UNC paths to monitor multiple clients for years now. I recently (i.e. yesterday) installed Xubuntu on a couple of systems and am using FahMon on those. I would like to monitor both clients from a single instance of FahMon, but obviously UNC is not an option. Can you tell me how to do this?

Also, I think I already know the answer, but thought I'd ask as a long-shot... is there a way to monitor the Linux clients using the Windows FahMon? They are on the same physical network, but obviously not the same domain.

Thanks for your time.

use SAMBA to create network shares that can be read by Windows.

Also, you may wish to switch to HFM.net for monitoring purposes. FAHMON does not calculate bonus for the SMP client, while HFM.net does.

Thank you for the reply! One thing I did not mention is that I'm a complete Linux n00b. :) Is there a place I can go with a tutorial on setting up SAMBA properly?

And I've been seeing HFM.net popping up more and more. I'm comfortable with FahMon, but maybe it's time to branch out.

FYI, you can import the FahMon settings into HFM.NET so that it will be easier to setup.

Still having trouble. Perhaps you can help. I followed the instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/internet/ ... hares.html

However, when opening the Share Folder, I only have "Unix networks (NFS)" as an option in "Share through:"

I've reinstalled Samba and it's still giving me trouble. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. :(

Try this? http://forums.overclockersclub.com/inde ... pic=160706 I think the locations of some of the Samba files have changed, or some of the commands have changed, but it's a pretty good guide. I think one of the changes is using the command "start/stop smbd" instead of "/etc/init.d/samba start/stop", but I may be wrong.

Well, it's still broken in shares-admin, but the document above helped me edit the config file directly and I'm up and running. Thanks so much for the help guys!! I'm sitting here looking at HFM.NET on my server and can see all clients with the exception of my PS3 client. :)
