Missing WU Points

Post by kookykrazee »

I have a problem that started last week. I updated my client to the Tracker V2 and everything was fine, once I worked passed some of my own bugs and issues and a few program issues, which have been updated in the current versions.

Here is my problem. I had entered my username and all other information and it was reported okay, but then I noticed, since 06/09/10 that I had not received any points. Upon further review, it appears that I had not gotten any points because it was submitting my points under kookykraze, instead of kookykrazee (Notice the 2nd e, like my username in this and all other forums I am part of.). Can I request the points and stats be added to my correct user name/account?

Wrong account:
username: kookykraze
F@H ID: 517383

Proper account:
username: kookykrazee
F@H ID: 460724

I would also like to get my bonus points, but I will settle for just getting my proper account. Thanks for helping me out :)

Sorry, but the policy has always been that once submitted to a username/team WU's never get moved regardless of the reason. So all you can really do is fix then name/team to be correct for future WU's. So now you have two name/team combinations to keep track of.

As to bonus points, you didn't really include any information as to what was missing. So I can't really help you there either.

If you are missing bonus points, you absolutely need a passkey configured into your clients. If you've had a lot of EUE's then that will kill your bonus point production till the correct WU to failed WU's ratio is at least 80%. The third factor is that you need to have at least 10 WU's successfully returned under the name/passkey combination.

If you haven't been getting your bonus points then you are missing one (or more) of the above 3 requirements and you need to fix whatever is wrong.

That is sad to hear, since I have not changed anything, yet they were submitted with one less character in my name. As to the bonus points, I was relating those to the ones that were posted to the wrong username. Since F@H counted the WU as a new user, it did not give them bonus points, even though the passkey was there, due to the submission with the wrong username.

Unfortunately, the other username is completely useless, since I did not create, did not want it and will never use it. That is why I suggested that someone tell me how get the points posted to the proper username. I have a hard time imagining that something, such as F@H, which is far reaching and so big, would be so rigid with regards to a situation like this. I am not trying to steal someone elses points and feel that due to a glitch, I should get these points added to the right account.

The causes of the policy are simple. All custom changes require that it be done by hand which costs money and they feel that it can be better allocated elsewhere. There are other reasons too but that one should be enough.

I have seen multiple cases, over the years, of merging accounts. Am I saying this is a normal circumstance, no I am not. I am saying this is an unusual case which is why I ask for my information to be merged together or my stats added to the proper account. Nothing more, nothing less.

Again, I ask why the policy was instituted?

You changed your user name! That's the basis of assigning credit. A typo is a mistake. A consequence of the freedom to pick any user name, occupied or not, is that the computer will accept any typo.

For other distributed projects, maybe, but not for FAH. And we're talking about what, 17 work units to be added to the 1400+ on your main? There's maybe one or two staff members on stats... and several hundred thousand active clients, over a million names in the database, over one hundred million work units turned in by the top 10 teams alone.
That is why I suggested that someone tell me how get the points posted to the proper username.
Reconfigure the offending client(s) to use the correct user name. Past points are there to stay. They still represent work done.

I must be misunderstood. I did not change the username. I was getting points in my client, no problems for several weeks, then I noticed, this weekend, I was not getting points. After trying to figure out what was wrong and checking with the tracker developer, I did more research and noticed that it was submitting the stats/WUs to the wrong username. I did not change that information, but I fixed it. It was not changed by me, it was not a typo by me. It was just incorrect information being submitted. It's plain and simple.

I am just stating it from my point of view and the information doesn't all have to be sifted through just the 2 usernames.

I think you're failing to take responsiblity for changes you made to your configuration. If you didn't change the spelling of the username, who did?

In any case, that's beside the point. The Pande Group has NEVER merged accounts for any reason. Once the WUs are credited, no changes will be made.

With one exception. When people have created malware that folded for them, I believe those usernames were merged into anonymous.

The policy has been this way since the beginning of the project. This is not a new policy. They do not accept any user account change requests because if they did, they would get 1000 requests a day. They would have to hire someone to do this user management full time. And if they had the grant money to hire someone, that someone would be better used working on the science of the project than fixing trivial user change requests.

And if they started merging users, then people would want more, like to merge teams, or break teams apart, it never stops. It's an unneeded distraction.
