Recently upgraded to XUBUNTU Linux 10.04. Before that, everything was working OK. Using FAHMON 2.3.99.1.
After upgrade, I make sure ORIGAMI is running, then try to execute FAHMON but now get the following:
jb@jb-desktop:~/Desktop$ fahmon
(fahmon:3406): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 17
(fahmon:3406): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 17
(fahmon:3406): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 17
(fahmon:3406): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -5 and height 17
and it HANGS there, but FAHMON opens and FAHLOG says:
[17:48:14] + Attempting to get work packet
[17:48:14] - Connecting to assignment server
[17:48:14] + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[17:48:14] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[17:48:14] - Attempt #9 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
and after waiting a LONG time, go back to TERMINAL, hit ^C, .. FAHMON closes.
Don't know what to do .. UNINSTALL then REINSTALL, just REINSTALL over current install, or REPAIR (somehow).
Any help appreciated (very new at Linux). Thank you in advance

Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM
I don't know about FAHMon issue. However, I need more information about your folding client and hardware to try to help you with getting a WU. i.e. different clients have different issues with getting WU's.
Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM
Thank you for your reply. I have found support for my problem elsewhere. Most of it is my own ignorance with Linux, and I am sorry if I took your time. If I can figure out how, I will close this thread, but want to thank the forum for their patience.

Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM
np, I'm glad you got some help. It doesn't have to be here.
Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM
I just checked the FAQ and saw nothing about 'closing' a thread or marking it 'solved'. Sorry if I am remiss. Moderators, feel free to set its status properly. thank you.

Don't worry, about closing the thread. Threads remain open forever unless the thread is a problem that requires moderator intervention.
