As did mine (big, no advmethods). Better than nothing at least
Folding whatever I'm sent since March 2006 Beta testing since October 2006. www.FAH-Addict.net Administrator since August 2009.

Only got the one unit though, gone back to original message on the other machines. The 44xx server is very low on units so it could be a long wait.

Taking a look now, it looks ok to me (there are jobs), but I can see that we were low a few hours ago. We'll keep an eye on this. More classic jobs are coming on line on Monday as well.

Re: No appropriate work server was available
PS ok, I see a shortage for AMD's right now. I just fixed that. Could you please report a bit more about what type of machine you have (CPU & OS). You don't have to be too specific, but something (eg P3 or P4 or Athlon) is useful.

Pette Broad's profile hasn't been updated in a while, but unless he's gone over to the blue side, it's all AMD.

Re: No appropriate work server was available
I've been having the same problems in getting WU's this has been going on for about 4-5 weeks now.
My system is a AMD64 but I'm running a 32bit OS if this helps at all. This happened a few months ago, I reinstalled the program and that seemed to work, not this time though.
Code: Select all
[15:14:28] Loaded queue successfully.
[15:14:28] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[15:14:28] + Attempting to get work packet
[15:14:28] - Connecting to assignment server
[15:14:28] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[15:14:28] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[15:14:29] - Successful: assigned to (171.67.108.13).
[15:14:29] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
[15:14:29] Loaded queue successfully.
[15:14:29] + Could not connect to Work Server
[15:14:29] - Attempt #1 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

Welcome to the foldingforum, mrrangerman
In general, "small"/"normal" and not having -advmethods will decrease your chances of getting assignments when WUs are in short supply so you might consider setting "big" and/or advmethods (even temporarily) if you're having troubles.
What client version are you running? How much RAM? What setting do you have for "Acceptable size of work assignment and work result packets" -- Small/Normal/Big ? Do you have -advmethods set?mrrangerman wrote:I've been having the same problems in getting WU's this has been going on for about 4-5 weeks now.

+1
I've reread FAHwiki and then gone through '-configonly'. Thus I'm sure configuration doesn't asks this:
Hence I've edited wrapper script and added the option explicitly. Gone for b4-core.
p.s. vvoelz, it was pleasure to count for you all that time. I believe that won't come back.

That question does appear in all of the recent Windows clients.
And that question does appear in the newer v6.29 linux client.

Thanks I set the unit size to big and changed a few settings and I'm back up and running.bruce

Re: No appropriate work server was available
I'm having the same problem this evening at 7:30 PM eastern. Been working for fine for, well, years.
I've confirmed that I'm set to accept big units (by going through -configonly), and I tried using -advmethods, but no luck.
FYI, I'm on a Mac, and here are the results for "/fah6 -smp -verbosity 9 -advmethods"
Help?

Re: No appropriate work server was available
ok, we've notified the relevant team members on this one.
I am also moving to add more team members to get SMP projects going to avoid this sort of thing in the future.
