Re: FAH Core 24 Fails Xubuntu 18.04 extended
Thank You, Nicolas for the deep dive as to how "far" we would have to update to get the appropriate gilbc - kernel - driver complex to run Core 24. That will save a lot of time and effort spent "poking around" during new experiments. We are on the last day of our move, and will m...

Re: FAH Core 24 Fails Xubuntu 18.04 extended
Gary, are you using FAH7 or FAH8 to manage folding? And what is the newest kernel available to Mint 19.2? I did go to github for openmm-core-24 hoping for a simple declarative statement such as "wont work on kernel XXXX or earlier" but no luck. I'm not a programmer or developer and frequen...

Re: Rebuilding rig
@jchang6 If you can run linux with that 4070 Super, the command "sudo nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 176" will get 10-14 million ppd with a 90 set in nvidia xserver settings. fans about 70 to 75 for a decent temp day. "sudo nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 106 or 116" will get 7.5 to 8.5 million ppd wit...

FAH Core 24 Fails Xubuntu 18.04 extended
Most of my platforms are Intel Gen 4 & Nvidia....on Xubuntu 18.04 extended. All core 24 WUs die instantly. Spent a lot of effort last Fall & Winter trying to find something I liked more modern OS while avoiding V8. I like my Cli control of FAH processes and Nvidia wattages. Can't tolerate 20...

Expiration Of Version 7
Is there a date certain for the end of Version 7; and if so how far out is it? I'm not complaining about V8....most of my problems have been show stoppers with various versions of linux newer than 18.04 Ubuntu. Can get about 4 more years from Ubuntu and would save me a great deal of time & effor...

Re: faulty WU 13415, 2495,0,1
To check a suspected bad work unit, you can go to this page: "https://apps.foldingathome.org/wu?" copy in the project, run, clone, gen on the top line in this fashion: Project: 13415 (Run 1769, Clone 21, Gen 0) I just copied and pasted that particular one as it was one of the 4-5 failures ...

Re: OpenCL: Not detected: clGetDeviceIDs() returned -1
Thank You , MarcvdM This is a great deal easier than mindlessly wiping and re-installing nvidia drivers over and over and over until nvidia, opencl and FAH deign to recognise each other. There have been times I have just walked away and let a machine not fold for a couple of days instead of re-insta...

Re: Folding at home with mint 19.1 and amd gpus
I have just tried some examples of this problem...have mostly negative reports but found one that will work. 1. I wanted to move on from xubuntu to debian because of what ubuntu is doing with GTK2 (stealth depreciation) so tried to install in sequence amdgpu-pro 18.20 then 19.20 (current) in debian ...

Re: sudo init 3 & FAHControl
I tried that about 10 years ago on a Core2Quad and found no extra performance with the headless Ubuntu install on cpu only work units......IF you build your desktop environment with as few databases, indexers, servers and other assorted crap as possible consistent with what else you want to do with ...

Re: bad WU 9430 (125, 5, 100) and 9641 (0, 28, 54)
Two things to try based on problems I've had over the last couple of weeks. When the larger core 21 uploads arrived, my uploads would trail off between 75% to 99% and print no message in the log as to completion or not. They would show as not sent in fahcontrol so I would stop the current wu and run...

CUDA-Z "http://cuda-z.sourceforge.net/" will run on debian based linux, but seems to need cuda 5.0 or higher to install. I'm still running two gtx 650 Ti's on 304.128 drivers and the installer won't work on the associated cuda 3.0. The software provides three screens of info but no capabil...

Re: posting system spec's to see if this machine is viable
A P4 3.2ghz Northwood with HT will produce ~2000~ points per day in linux running NACL on the chrome browser, undisturbed. There is more than one on ebay for under $7, shipped (SL6WG or SL6WE). I ran one 24/7 for about 5 months recently until the power supply died. Didn't have the money to mess with...

linux driver 331.20
I had read the descriptions of low ppd for drivers past 327 for Fermi's in windows, but had seen nothing about the same problem in linux (xubuntu 12.04 in my case). Figured it didn't matter much until a driver past 327 showed up in the repositorys. A couple of days ago driver 331.20 showed up and I ...
