It also makes more sense to buy 3 good Quad Core machines with a good Graphics cards to run GPU client on it also.
Rather than one machine.

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Update:
The school will be trying this out over the summer. If they like the results they will try this out in middle school and if the results are good there then the whole school district.

Better FAH?
I have a PS3 and I really like the Folding@home on the PS3 better than the GUI on my computer. I am trying to get my friends to run it and i think many of them dont find it "attractive". Folding@home on the computer is really really boring. PS3 has the cool globe feature to go with it. And...

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Today I talked to the tech guy in our school and principal. They didnt ask too many questions about it. They did ask how much bandwidth it takes since our school network is bad. So, How much bandwidth does Folding@home take? And they said that they are awaiting a reply from the head of the tech depa...

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Hi, I just found out about FAH and I am asking my school whether they can run it. Just a few questions: 1. Would it require any config to run on a windows domain (such as getting the screensaver to run when people are logged off) 2. Would it have any adverse effects on the performance of the comput...

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
I agree to what you wrote (theMass) But i dont see the kids doing it very much All the kids in our school are spoiled rich kids which iPhones and what not. Most of them dont even care about school and thier life. And maybe out of like 1000+ kids in our school maybe 10 of them will be serious about i...

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Thanks for all the compliments.
I think the Tech Department wont be saying yes to this cuz they are over worked already.
But i will request them to try it on a few computers. Like 10 computers since every little helps.

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Is Folding@home sorta like a non-profit thing?
I do know that those who do take care of Folding@home and work for F@H do need to get paid.
Are more and more scientists switching to Folding@home?

Re: Folding@home proposal letter to my school
Also most computers are kept in two states. The first is logged off, when students are not using them. Sitting at a login screen would do nothing, so figure out a work around. Furthermore you'll need to talk to the tech guy, because the computers are wiped clean every night. I did ask the people on...

My biology teacher who has a Phd said that one problem would be: Not many scientists use the data from Folding@home. So this will only help the small number of scientists
