Re: How many cores should I donate?
Longtime BOINCer, here because KREMBIL can't get it's act together to get WCG back up and running What's wrong with WCG? My WCG machines are still getting works fine. I prefer WCG on my super low end machines, because FAH doesn't have the option of pausing computation when CPU is busy. My "pre...

Re: How many cores should I donate?
Oh my client makes the deadline fine. I don't think I need to add more threads. Why wouldn't you fold with fewer than 4 cores?

Re: How many cores should I donate?
I remember at one point there was an announcement that single-core tasks were being deprecated. Are there plans like that for dual-core tasks?

How many cores should I donate?
I have just got myself a second hand desktop. I now have a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU, which has 6 cores. Historically I have been using quad-core laptops, and I had been donating 2 cores 24x7 to keep the noise down. Now I have a desktop with proper cooling. I am just re-evaluating how many core...

Did you start getting the problem after the upgrade? Or has the problem always been there?MFicek wrote:Thanks for that post, I have even weaker nvidia geforce gt 630m and wanted to ask the same question, but now I don't need.

That did the trick, thanks!gs60 wrote:One thing you could try is remove the gpu slots and add<gpu value="false"/> to the config.xml. This may keep it from being readded.

Re: How do I stop FAHClient from adding an unwanted GPU slot
If you add <pause-on-start v="True"/> to the gpu slot, that should stop fah from running on that gpu. I use it for cpu, but I assume it would work the same for gpu. As I mentioned, I manually paused it, so it is okay for now. I just don't like seeing that slot. Is there any ways to remove...

How do I stop FAHClient from adding an unwanted GPU slot?
I have a Geforce GT 730M. I am on Debian. FAHclient is configured to run as a service. I recently upgraded my FAHClient to 7.6.21. Now FAHClient automatically adds a GPU slot when I reboot. I don't want to use my GPU for folding, as it is a really weak GPU. It barely complete the task within the dea...

Re: Newbie with headless Linux server has some questions
On a side note, I feel this should really go to one of the main forum... This is actually a technical question.

Re: Do you need help?
Have you guys thought about contacting Linus Tech Tip? They are literally holding a competition for running Folding@Home. Linus himself has a few server with 100TB storage space. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/11 ... -covid-19/ Turns out LMG is hosting a FAH WU server. lol. https://youtu.be/K...

Autograph from FAH consortium team members and merchandises?
I am obviously a massive fan of this project - I have been folding for a long time. It would mean a lot to me, if I can get an autograph from one of the scientist involved in the FAH project, or perhaps some sort of FAH merchandise. There was a FAH merchandise page, but I think Dr Pande took down th...

Did FAH ever consider to move to BOINC?
Obviously FAH predates BOINC, did Pande group ever consider moving abandon FAH and run everything on BOINC? What is the reason behind maintaining separate FAH codebase? I can think of many myself, but it would be great to hear from people who are more closely associated with the project. Bonus quest...

Re: Do you need help?
To me it appears that FAH is a very low priority for academia. The apparent lack of interest in solving major illnesses by developing therapeutics indicates to me there is no real intention to address these diseases. Please prove me wrong. Protein interaction is basically how life works... Understa...

Re: Do you need help?
My worry is that with all the attention F@H is getting from the media to fight COVID-19 there are a ton of new donors who are opening the client to the first time only to find that it just sits idle and does nothing at which point they uninstall F@H, never to return. We may lose a lot of potential ...
