Re: Points Drop
This is the first time I have heard that my completion rate was only 16%. The software should issue some kind of warning. The passkey was in the local client. I had been using a passkey since day one. As to figuring out why the machines are not completing work units, that will not happen. The softwa...

Re: Points Drop
What is your folding name? With it we would be able to see your folding status at: https://apps.foldingathome.org/ It is looking like your passkey is missing: https://apps.foldingathome.org/getpasskey Please type the following in a terminal and post the results here using the code tags: cat /etc/fa...

Re: Points Drop
I decided to send an email to Gregory Bowman, PhD (The Director of Folding@home). Here is part of my email: “...I was unable to find a technical reason for the drop in points. It appears as if the server is assigning very low value work units to my two computers. I would like to maximize my contribu...

Re: Points Drop
“There are a number of things which can impact points, but the luck of the assignment server alone can be a big factor at times.” Big is the right word. Here is an example of what I did versus a teammate. I did three times the work units for about 1/5th the credit. This is a strange point system. Da...

Points Drop
Hello Over the last few days I noticed a very large drop in points. This surprised me as up until now my points have been fairly consistent. I understand that different projects/work units have different point values. Is this normal to have an extended period of very low value work units? All three ...

Re: GPU Utilization, Power Watts, MSI Afterburner
Thanks. I switched to v8.1.18 on all my PCs. That version seems to have done away with the option.

Re: Software Monthly Update
Actually, I was interested in software updates not science updates. For example; When will the next version of the software, version 7 or 8 come out? What new features are planned? I am assuming the programmers/developers provide periodic updates to the the people running the show. Can they provide ...

Software Monthly Update
Hello
I was wondering if the people working on the F&H software do a monthly update? Something similar to what Clem does here: https://blog.linuxmint.com/
Thanks

Re: GPU Utilization, Power Watts, MSI Afterburner
When I switched to full power I did see about a 100 MHz increase. Returned back to medium settings. The 80C temp at full power is a bit too high. Averaging a decent 3.1 million PPD with this PC at medium settings (123 watts, 56C at 50% fans speed). Yes, the 40 series are much improved over the 20 an...

GPU Utilization, Power Watts, MSI Afterburner
For the last week or so I have been experimenting with different settings using MSI afterburner and power settings using the Folding@Home Web Control. What I found odd was that I can run the GPU at 123 watts and still get 96% utilization. The GPU is a RTX 2070 Super that has a power limit of 215 wat...

Re: Point inflation - Longevity Credit
My first GPU had 16 shaders, of course it did less work than a modern GPU with thousands. My Semperon did less work as well. This is not point inflation, this is more capable hardware doing better science. Point inflation is the result not the cause. I would agree that more capable hardware is part...
