Re: Headless Ubuntu Client won't continue without restarting service

Small number of users with access to high performance ARM should try and get access to more than 4 cores :)
But then again, we rarely bother with more specific constraints for ARM other than just outright disallowing the assignments

Re: FAH 8.4.9 Installed, not folding

It does not auto fold after installation :) you need to manually start folding.

Re: Headless Ubuntu Client won't continue without restarting service

You are trying to fold on ARM 4 core CPU. I'd guess its some sort of Pi device, or something other low powered in nature. Abandon your efforts, not worth it. We barely ever enable anything for these type of CPUs, as they are too slow for FAH The Neoverse N series of ARM processors are for high-perf...

Re: PPD nowhere near estimate?

PPD displayed is Points Per Day. That means that's the amount of points you would get if you folded 24h a day. If you are not folding 24 hours per day, PPD will drop dramatically. The quicker you return the WU, the more points you can get. Passkey is enabled after 10 successful WUs returned without ...

Re: Multiple clients completing the same WU

Dynamic timeout is a "wonderful" feature which adjust timeout automatically depending average return rate for the project, or something like that. It was enabled during COVID where it really worked. But not anymore
I asked researcher to check if that is the cause and to disable it

Re: Multiple clients completing the same WU

That is probably dynamic timeout feature at play.
If I tried again to argue of its removal as a default with the main fah dev, I would probably get banned :D

Re: beta projects

Fahclient still needs to be aware of the platform, when it starts, the way it currently knows if GPU supports OpenCL or CUDA

Re: beta projects

Regarding HIP, the world will know when it is released. We would not just release such an improvement low key and not tell anyone ;)
There is no HIP in the wild yet

Re: Issues With Connecting To Servers

I've set my system for GPU folding only, and that's worked up until this recent shortage. Now I'm getting CPU work, which gets assigned but doesn't reach 1% until a GPU unit is also assigned, and they're assigned to me until I manually reject them. Not sure where to post this, as it might be an err...

Re: Start Folding on GPU without Website

GPUs are enabled, when compatible platform is found on the system by fahclient.
I would assume within a docker you have to have CUDA, OpenCL platforms set up for fahclient to see them and mark GPUs as enabled

Re: Multiple projects on one GPU with MPS

Nvidia does not support 2 workloads on a single consumer GPU.
Developer resources are scarce as is, especially for corner cases like this

Re: ubuntu: fah-client install error: invalid user fah-client

You probably should have started with the statement that you are using vast.ai

Don't believe this is fah issue.
If you are lucky someone else who played with vast.ai pops in and can help you

Re: ubuntu: fah-client install error: invalid user fah-client

Something is wrong with your OS. deb package, which I assume you downloaded from foldingathome.org, works fine on variety of deb based distros (Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint, Pop_OS). Tested on all of them by myself. Ubuntu itself is the most friendly distro to FAH And there is no need to force depe...
