Re: 18027 Bad Work Unit
Oh ok, ignore my post. This has happened before and it sucks. Probably a researcher who either doesn't know that new workunits are supposed to be tested by betateam for a week or two to make sure these mishaps don't happen, or maybe someone who doesn't care about following protocol. Either way someo...

Re: 18027 Bad Work Unit
Workunits fail. That's part of being in beta. That's why running beta is opt in. The chance of things going awry is generally quite high with beta workunits. If you want more stable workunits remove the beta or advanced flag from your client. Their is no shame attached to it. Most people who do beta...

Re: Project: 18201 (Run 24975, Clone 0, Gen 21)
Thats the thread I read when I was troubleshooting the CUDA issue. Going up to 471.22 fixed the issue for now. The rest of the system is fine so far. If it happens anymore I will try downclocking the card by a bit and see if that helps. Its at stock speeds at present and it doesnt run at any temp ab...

Re: Project: 18201 (Run 24975, Clone 0, Gen 21)
It's more than likely related to the driver. i was using 441.x and noticed that CUDA wasn't initialising in the logs, so had a look around the board and noticed I needed to upgrade the driver to get CUDA to work again due to some update on the core side. So I put the latest driver on the system. It ...

Re: Project: 16608 (Run 188, Clone 0, Gen 103)
It re-ran and dumped at the same point, so maybe the workunit. It was running on my RTX 2080 Ti @ Stock. The card has done quite a few workunits since without issue, apart from that other unit that crashed with a CUDA issue. Besides these, I've lost no workunits in maybe a year. Anyway I thought i'd...

Re: Adverse effects of running F@H
A guy I used to talk to on here had an interesting water cooling concept. He lived in an area with quite a high water table and the you could dig a hole and hit water maybe 3-4ft down. This area was also quite warm, so not ideal for folding. So he went for a water cooling solution on his rigs, but i...

Re: Too large WU/ too short deadline /no way to refuse
Like Jimbo, I have retired large swathes of hardware since I started folding roughly 20 years ago. The oldest GPU I still use for folding occasionally is a GTX 1050 Ti and I don't do CPU folding anymore as its not cost efficient. I run a single high end card for folding nowadays and use less energy ...

Re: Too large WU/ too short deadline /no way to refuse
The time I fold too large units is lost for science due to timeout limit that is too short, so don't assign so much work to small CPU ... If science don't need CPU's free time, it's time to say it now ! "Publish or Perish" !? I have 3 PCs that work 24/7 for fah ... are they useless ? do y...

Re: Windows Fahcore_22 v0.0.18 updated driver requirements
I have it working on Win 8.1 Pro. You need this exact driver version. 472.12
It's the last version that works with 8.1 (or at least after researching it, I think it is).

Re: Nvidia crippled Crypto Mining driver
It's a stopgap solution at best. Different cryptocurrencies use special algorithms so tracking each down and preventing false positives is a fool's errand. I can't imagine it will take long for this to become a cat and mouse game. Yeah, this situation reminds me of the anti cheat battle that occurr...

Re: Dramatically Lower Points
Generally if you get one NaN error, report it, it may be that workunit which is faulty. If you get loads of them its a hardware issue, drop the overclock or maybe underclock a little, until it goes away. Beyond that do the standard maintenance tasks that are required. Vacuum the card out from time t...

Re: My Beowulf cluster
Still its a cool project to do, especially if you are looking at certain tasks, brute force cracking crypto, a render farm, solving other mathemtical problems. But not Folding. You'd be better buying a graphics card or two and folding that way. Im afraid building a Beowulf is real dark arts. Instruc...

Re: Dramatically Lower Points
Admittedly their have been a few workunits knocking about that give less PPD than average. I've noticed it and others on beta have and comments have been made. I dont think those workunits were ever adjusted (asuming they needed to be). Can't remeber which Projects they were from, but I had a diabet...
