Re: Normal thekraken Behavior? [Yes]

Please create a new thread as your symptoms are very different from the OP.

Also, can you provide the following information:
- client version
- Kraken's version
- Linux distribution and version

Thank you!

Re: Change in BA requirements

LOL. It takes extreme naiveté (or trolling -- pick one) to believe the most recent bigadv announcement was a planned/ordered thing.

Re: Change in BA requirements

Might not know yet (might depend on how many parallel WUs (Projects/Runs/Clones) are left?). Nope. Preferred deadlines have absolutely nothing to do with number of generations "to go". Seeing the deadlines haven't been provided, Folding@Home is headed towards another bigadv issue (which w...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Ok, so here's what we know: BA changes were not dictated by the need to satisfy specific need but to satisfy pretty much an arbitrary cap (5%). The cap basically means (meant?) not that the machines meeting specific criteria (feasibility for the needs) are rewarded but machines in top 5%. This is hu...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Systemic/policy issues (largest issues in Folding@Home by far) are not very suited to be solved via polls...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Yup. There's another quote that clearly shows where Folding@Home's special spot for donors is: If we had the funds to build what they (Facebook and Google -- ed.) do, we wouldn't be running a volunteer distributed computing project, but just computing directly on that infrastructure, as we have done...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Nice job at attempting to maintain status quo. You might actually get that position [sic!]

Might as well do it now --

Re: Change in BA requirements

(...) there are things that donors need to know about FAH, but there are many details that we do not need to know. Evidently, whoever has been deciding on the scope of "need to know" isn't exactly succeeding... LOL. Re-hashing old posts and pointing out their errors in logical inferences ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Again adak, please feel free to draw me or others into a discussion of our personal opinions. As you know by now, I can certainly debate as well, and as long as you. However, it remains for PG to explain their rationale. They have explained it. Kasson posted it. You read it. You said it hadn't been...

Re: Change in BA requirements

As a group, and individually, we'll have to let that frustration from the past, go. We need to be calm, and focus on the problem, or the discussion will go straight off the tracks, and be useless to PG or anyone else. Excuse me while I watch from the sidelines. If you need me, you know where to fin...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Because there is no way that we are going to solve several problems, all at once, in just one thread. Let's keep this thread for the BA threshold change problem. Let's enumerate other problems in a thread or threads of their own, and remember the value of patience. These problems were not created o...

Re: Change in BA requirements

P.S: I might be BANNED from this forum... :D :D It is unfortunate, that seems to be the goal of several in this thread. I am quite certain that personal respect, professionalism, sound arguments, and sensible discussion will gain an appropriate reply in due time. The rest is just distracting noise ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

I should also point out that one could equally conclude that BA work units are overvalued rather than that SMP are undervalued. A number of people have made this point, and it is not clear (and not entirely in my hands) which direction the points scheme will move. I would personally be in favor of ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

About 5 pages ago, I made this post: Take a break or inject new ideas .... And dear mods; please keep it open ... in general this discussion is not bad to have. I support that idea. For those of you who have posted several times and done an adequate job of expressing your point of view, repeating y...
